Question Re: B-26 Review

Just a question. Has anyone spotted the FOV issues of the B-25 and the B-26 in a Target store? I have the B-26 and wouldn't mind getting the B-25 at Target prices.

Re: B-26 Review

Hi stalag,

I went to my local store (Enfield, CT) this morning, but no B-25 or 26 yet. I'm curious to see if they are different (only extended gear) and cost less. I might get another B-26 and do a custom job if I can find some decals.

Re: B-26 Review

Got my B-26 today. Not a bad model, I was not expecting much as I am not really impressed with the few FOV's that I have seen. First thing I did was to use an extra Corgi stand from an 2006 model instead of the clear plastic one that came with it, the rubber tip fits in the stand hole on the B-26 with a little force. Now it sits solid and in level flight. One problem I found is that on the doors for the bomb bay open option the paint is flaking off. I was placing them on the model and when I took my fingers away I had a flake of paint about the size of my small finger nail stuck to my index finger tip. I looked at the model and there on the bomb bay door I could see clear plastic, when I rubbed it it had an oily feeling. I am assuming that oil must have gotten on to the part before painting and was not cleaned off and just painted over. Seems that a few manufactures are having problems with oil on the models(IXO,HM) from what I have read here.
But all in all I like it and its the only B-26 in town right now.

Did you get it at a Target, or elsewhere?

Re: B-26 Review

No I got it from a dealer up here in Canada. We don't have Target stores here, but there is one just across the boarder in Niagara Falls NY that I have checked out once. I'm not to worried about the paint coming off, as it is not a Corgi heavy that you pay good money for and its only on the one door not on the main body of the plane itself.

Re: B-26 Review

I just got mine last night and I like it with the exception of the landing gear doors. The paint has ran on them badly and they're too fragile. Otherwise looks good in the case..

Re: B-26 Review

can some one explain what the two side holes are on the side of the b-26? It looks like there are two plastic guns hanging out on each side of them, is that suppose to be?

Re: B-26 Review

Tank Nut, I assume you are talking about the two placements for .50 cal machine guns. They were used to protect the belly because the B-26 lacked a belly turret. They were hand opererated much like the waist guns on the B-17/24. Here is a pic from the AF Museum.

Re: B-26 Review

Thanks for that, so that must have been fun to fire from, did they lay down to use the guns?

Re: B-26 Review

Don't hold me to this but I am pretty sure that they just knelt or crouched down. I don't recall any provisions for any type of seats. I think the idea was to offer some sort of protection if an enemy fighter decided to sneak up underneath and attack.
