New P-40C

Just received the new Forces of Valor P-40C. My recommendation: BUY IT!!!!!

This is a great model especially since it's our first die cast 1940-41 era P-40. I love the EasyModel versions, but this one beats those hands down.

Pros: The model is heavy. It weighs in at about 1/2 pound of metal and it's a sturdy plane. The panel lines are finely engraved and they are not blackened. The dimensions appear spot on. The details in the engine are unbelievable from the turbo-charger to the hood guns. Colors are excellent and the tampo prints are thin and crisp. Beautiful landing gear and struts. The struts even have molded hydraulic lines on them and the tires have grooves! WOW!

Cons: Putting this thing together was a little tedious as the entire wheel well has to be glued in. Fit wasn't great and I had to trim with my Exacto knife and glue both wheel wells in. Tail wheel didn't fit at all and needed the same treatment. No guns on the hood though the blisters are there. The hoods don't fit tight, but for the plus of the superb engine detail, they aren't that bad. The pilot is not a Matchbox quality pilot, but he doesn't detract too much. The wing guns are too long, have no powder burns, and are not the right color. Small things that really are minor and should not deter you from adding this beauty to your collection.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 8.5 to 9.0 especially considering the price I paid: about $11.99 plus shipping.

Here's some pictures.

Re: New P-40C - Review

Trap, I think this is a prime candidate for a little weathering job, whaddaya think?.....Is it my imagination, or does the fuselage seem a bit "tall" or something......Oh never mind, for 12 bucks it's a pretty cool example of an all-too-rare in the diecast world B/C Hawk.

Yeah Skunky, the basic model could use some "sprucing up". I wanted to show it to everyone the way it comes out of the box. I'll be weathering mine. It does seem to sit a little high, but it looks worse in the pictures.
