Re: Forces of Valor P-40 Warhawk

The FOV P-40 is one of the best 1:72 I have seen. I picked up one at Target, and have seen several of them at various Target's in Atlanta. The price has increased over the past 2 months from $9.99 to $12.99. But it is definatly worth the increased price.

I couldn't agree more, that FOV P-40 is a very nice piece of work. The engine detail alone is enjhough to make the $12.99 price tag worthwhile. In additiion to the P-40 I own three other FOVs: Mitsubishi Zero, ME-262; and the F4U-1D VMF 323. I like them all, but the Zero really stands out, especially against the Corgi A6M2 "Pearl Harbor" version. Dollar for doollar, FOV gives good value for the buck.

However, not all of the FOV issues are winners. The white Hurricane (95429) was a mess with wide seams and terrible inking. It pays to look at the model carefully before laying out any money.

Re: Forces of Valor P-40 Warhawk

Personally I like my white Hurricane but perhaps there are some sample to sample variations.

I was at one of my local Targets this weekend and noted the price jump to $12.99. They still had three P-40s in stock along with a Corsair, a pair of Bulgaria Stukas, and two South East Asian Hurricanes. I've only seen the ME-262 once around here and the Zero only a few times. I certainly would have bought a Zero except for the fact that I already own the exact same plane from Witty.

The Target close to me usually has nothing or just 2 or 3 Stukas or Corsairs. The one referenced above is a newer store in a more affulent area and they always have a better selection. Wonder if that is because it is stocking more or because rich people aren't buying 1/72 diecast and they sit on the shelf longer.

Re: Forces of Valor P-40 Warhawk

Warhawks have disappeared. Today I saw two Me 262s, a Corsair, and the Zero. I have a Zero and an extra P-40 from Target if anyone needs one--or both.

Re: Forces of Valor P-40 Warhawk

Duxford,
The FOV planes tend to come and go in waves. First generation planes have been showing up of late in my area. I don't get the impression that FOV is shutting down production, or running out of already produced planes, anytime soon.

Let hope that they finally get around to making a couple more P-40 liveries.

Re: Forces of Valor P-40 Warhawk

It would not surprise me if FOV already have some new schemes/paint jobs for the P-40, Me262 and Zero fighters just waiting to be distributed at TARGET stores very soon. Perhaps, those are to be released in conjunction with FOV's upcoming 72nd bombers and the 1/32nd P-39....

Re: Forces of Valor P-40 Warhawk

I haven't seen the P40 in Target for quite some time - Typical as I didn't get it when I could and now I want it I can't find it.

My local targets selection of this stuff is right down They used to have a 2 or 3 rows in th aisle devoted to FOV stuff, now there is just one.

Ooops!

Re: Forces of Valor P-40 Warhawk

FlyXwire,
Hey there.

You know, you make a good point. I seem to recall that the last couple of years they have scheduled their releases for July/August so we ought to see something soon. (At least their stuff has shown up July/August here in the L.A. area.)

I did grab the FOV Grant about 3 weeks ago and she is right pretty. For $9.00 (After tax) its an excellent pick up.

Anyway, back to P-40's. Lets hope they come out with more than just one scheme this year for the bird. Granted, if they did only do one scheme I'll happily scarf it up, but the mould is so nice, I'd like to get several.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Forces of Valor P-40 Warhawk

If FOV is doing another set of the new moulds wouldn't they be timing them for Christmas time? That is when you are going to really move toys at a place like Target.

I'd love to be wrong and find a new Zero and P-40 next time I go to Target.
