White Hurricane - Target USA

I promised myself that I wasn't going to buy any more FOV planes. Thought I could better put the $10 into Corgis or HM planes. Well...

...Was in Target today (44th and Thomas for all you Phoenix folks) during my lunch hour. (I was actually looking for some of the Star Wars Titanium diecast.) Sitting on the shelf - along with 2 Stukas - were 2 of the FOV White Hurricanes, N. Atlantic 1944. This is the first time I'd seen these in person/in Target.

I had to buy one. It is just one COOL paint scheme - even with the "heavy" panel lines. The "cage" of the cockpit covers the "bad" pilot in this model. (And I haven't even taken it out of the box yet.)

One thing - it scanned at $10.99 but the tag on the shelf still read $9.99. I told the checker and he rang it up at $9.99 - no questions. So it looks like there is a slight price hike in FOV at Target.

But still - with all the speculation of the Corgi increases, this is not bad. The level of detail and presentation of these is really good considering the $11 price tag. As a collector trying to stay on a budget - I will give the new FOV releases a hard look. Just my opinion.

Re: White Hurricane - Target USA

Also just a quick note, may be old news -

but over the last month I have seen 2 of the same "new" FOV Corsair - 1 at 2 different Targets - The dark navy Corsair with the crooked arrow pointing up on the tail (No victory/flag markings).

Also - I have seen 2 or 3 of the SE Asia Hurricanes at Target as well in Phoenix metro area.

Re: White Hurricane - Target USA

Anyone know the short version of the story behind this color scheme?

Only the Engine cover not white, looks really cool.

Yeah. Way cool!

But is it white because it's a night fighter, a Russian export, a winter scheme, or it just got really scared?
