New Imex Releases.

The guys over at Plastic Soldier Review 1.72 say that they will be reviewing these two new Imex sets which should be available in the shops now:

It's always interesting to see new WW2 sets. 'Easy Company ' should be an interesting set if it really is trying to represent a company!

The German infantry set looks as if it will be German troops in their standard 39-45 uniform. However, I hope that there will be a few surprises!

The Plastic Soldier 1.72 review is promised within the next few days. You can catch it at :

The new sets are welcome addition to all the WW2 sets currently available.
( no prepainted ones, though ! )

Imex's recent releases of the four Korean War sets are worth looking at too.

Re: New Imex Releases.

Plastic Soldier Review have posted their take on the new 1.72 Imex Germans :

I think that it looks good, although many members may be annoyed at the number of repeats. Still, 15 poses isn't bad when you add them to other sets which are available.

Re: New Imex Releases.

While looking for new Dragons, I came across the new releases from Imex in one of the hobby shops which I frequent.

The Germans are in grey, hard plastic so should prove easy to paint. Review on Plastic Soldier Review 1.72 ( see previously posted link )

The 'Easy Company' Screaming Eagles are in very dark green hard plastic. They should be easy to paint too.

I wasn't impressed by the set. It looks as if it belongs to the efforts of an earlier era ( circa 1970-80 )

There are 15 poses; 50 figures. Some of the helmets look far too small, making some of the figure's heads look out of scale.

Despite this, there is a good range of poses and weapons, and everyone seems to be animated to a greater or lesser degree. Seven of the figures ( in two poses ) have separate bases with chutes on the ground. These bases are, frankly, not up to standard and should be discarded or recarved to get rid of the offending parachutes which appear to be large enough to accomodate only a small cat!

I won't presage 1.72 Plastic Soldier Review's take on the set. For those of you who paint your own figures to accompany your diecast vehicles and planes, it is well worth painting about 12 of this set ( and perhaps some repeats ) to group round a Sherman or two, or perhaps a Waco Glider ( are there any diecast examples of any assault glider? ).

Momo,
Seeing as how you're interested in collecting plastic figures, I'm recommending these fun figures for you to collect as it might just strike
your fancy...and besides it's in your avatar image.

Wink Re: New Imex Releases.

Thanks FlyXwire,

I had read that these were being marketed. I suspect that the target customers are the folk who were into reading the comic book version of the story.

I may well end up buying the figure of Leonidas, my boyhood hero ( until I read about the true nature of the Spartan Male society). Leonidas was a true hero, ( despite what late night talk shows will now reveal about him ) and the stand of the 300 draws out even a sneaking respect from the most cynical of men.

I might just get these myself - Leonidas and the Queen that is. I wish they had made figures from the movie "Gladiator". The LOTR figures were gorgeous!

I suspect that some Gladiator figures in the 1.72 range offered by Pegasus were inspired by the movie. There are some 1.35 figures available elsewhere, I believe which are also cashing in on the movie's lasting appeal.

I have seen some of the Tolkienesque figures and some of them look very good indeed.

In the UK right now all the figures are being distributed as figure and magazine in a Part-Work which covers the whole of the trilogy.
