Easy Models look and feel Cheap

I decided to try em, and anyone that likes these must be nuts. The plastic is so thin you can see light through it, The colors arent painted on but look molded in which also looks like crap to me, and the cockpit is basically a hole with no detail of any kind, geez they couldnt stick a decal in there?.

I also wonder why the canopys look so crappy when they are plastic just like on a diecast, but on these they just have a lousy cheap look to them.

Stand is ok, but I am sorry I spent $40.00 bucks on these things. Got 5 for $40.00 would rather have had 3 IXO or 2 Wittys.

Give me an IXO anyday over one of these, and I know there low priced but they should be even lower priced for what you get.

Biggie

Biggie, who you calling nuts? (though no, I am NOT taking that personally). I like them. Yes, they have some downsides as compared to diecast, but, though I like cockpit detail, it's never been a deal-breaker for me. As far as seeing light through them, I held up three of mine to the light, and I did not see light thru them. I think they look just fine mixed amongst my diecast. As I said, I like them, and I've been able to get aircraft not otherwise available too.

I agree with you Captain Eddie. Who else is going to make a M.S. 406, a Me-163 Komet, etc. Can't beat the price. I really like the pre-war Wildcat.

Re: Easy Models look and feel Cheap

I have lots of IXOs and Easy Models and have issues with both. If one must compare them, then I'd take an Easy Model in a heartbeat----even if it is much lighter. In both cases, I use these models to fill gaps in my collection, pending their production by Hobby Master, Gorgi, Dragon, etc.

I must confess, however, that the most recent additions to Easy Model's line-up----the MS-406 in particular--- have serious QC problems. All three of the ones I bought had smudges and/or glue drippings in highly visible locations and one had a dissolving stabilizer plus broken struts and an antenna---which sent it directly to my spare parts bin. Worse, they seem to have made a mistake in measuring the struts connecting the stabilizers to the tail. Their solution was to install the stabilizers at an upward angle, rather than the correct horizontal mode, so they could accommodate the shorter struts. Ridiculous!

I still plan to buy more Easy Models, but my experience with the MS-406 was disturbing. I can see why someone who doesn't feel like making extensive corrections on a $12 plastic model with QC problems, would give up on this line. Let's hope that MRC tightens up its assembly procedures and soon.

Re: Easy Models look and feel Cheap

Hey, Biggie, grab your check book and head for C1, CW, HM, et al, if that's your game. As for me, I own 17 of their issues and at man average price of $9.31/issue, they're a terrific buy. NoteL I have 209 die cast issues in my hanger. BTW, what wattage are you using to see through those Easy Models?
Truth in comments, please.

I have no Easy Model aircraft, but the Easy Model armor in my collection blends in nicely with the Dragon armor.

Re: Easy Models look and feel Cheap

I'm with Biggie on this one. Paper thin plastic, blurry markings, and overall cheap feel. After seeing them in person, I've passed on them despite very, very appealing subject matter.

Regards,

Sergey

Re: Easy Models look and feel Cheap

Biggie, sorry you will not be joining the Easy Model fan club.

I am a big Easy Model fan and will be the first to admit some are poorly done. I never buy more than one of a type until I see the 1st example. The F4F, F6F and F4U are very good and I like my MiG-3, Yak-3 and P-40B.

Below are photos that I have shared here before.

From Ron's Archives and More

And here is my F6F after a shot of DullCote and added aerial wire.
