Re: Ms 406

As many (if not most) of the political posts have been deleted, I would like to apologize to the forum and to the admins for making political references in my post.

Planenutsfrog, you are correct in that my rant was directed towards generalities based on the actions of your government rather than the beliefs of specific individuals. You seem to be a nice guy and open to the idea that all Americans are not the scourge of the earth.

However, please let me remind you that my involvement in this thread began with a joke, a wise-crack, playing off the cliche' of the cowardly Frenchman. It was only intended to be a wise-crack and nothing more. I was quite amused by the uproar created by prior posts, and I admit that I was adding fuel to the fire. My bad; I should not have done that since this is not a political website.

But, one of your your fellow countrymen took great offense to it and made a very uninformed attempt to elevate the French to "Holier than Thou" status, which is exactly the reason why Americans generally view the French as being arrogant. I was attempting to bring him back to reality with examples of historical French behavior which was less than exemplary. I was not attempting to make a statement that America is "better" than France. God knows we have screwed up plenty of times in the past, and will continue to do so I'm sure.

That said, if you would like to get into whether the French actions in Algeria, Rwanda and other places around the globe amounted to genocide, we can do that via PM. But I'd really rather talk about models.....

Anyway, I will not post to this thread any more, but I did want to make this apology.

Re: Ms 406

Yeah, it is official, and we are back to talking about the MS 406, does anyone know of any good sites that have some decent pictures of this aircraft. In past issues of FlyPast & The Aeroplane I have seen some pictures of a couple of restored MS 406s, but none that really give a good look into the office. One of the ones I saw was one that was restored in Switzerland, but the other I recall was in France proper. Just curious if anyone has come across any decent photos of this aircraft.

Red face Correction !

The material used to cover the MS406 was "Plymax" : a sheet of plywood between 2 of light alloy.

In doubt I checked my sources :

Plymax is made of a single sheet of dural bonded to one of plywood.

This material covered the wing of the MS406, but the front of the fuselage was dural only.

Sorry.

Sorry.

That would make more sense, at least in regards to all the access panels for the engine.

Re: Ms 406

Just received my first Easy Model MS-406 and I am rather disappointed. In addition to the missing pitot head, which I added, there are some glue droppings in the tail area---signs of hasty assembly-- and the tailplanes have a 2-3% diahedral---which is wrong---perhaps in an attempt to compensate for a mistake in the length of the support struts. I hope that more care will be taken with some of the other models that MRC is bringing to the marketplace.

Is there any chance you could post some pictures of this model?

Here's a pic from the MRC site. The problem with the tail planes is evident.

Thank you for digging up some pictures, and Wow, you were not joking about the stabilizer issue. My guess is you will be doing a little bit of work on this one.

I certainly will have to bend the tail planes, or, if you prefer, the stabilizers, into the horizontal mode. This will, no doubt, disconnect the supports, but that's no problem to fix. So many corrections to make----so little time. It seems that my work is never done.

Probably going to have to scratch build some new support struts for the stablizers on top of it all.
