Re: Easy Models

Gort,
I have 19 Easy Models in my hanger, and with some dull coat they look very nice. BTW, the Yak-3 by Easy Models really shows how badly the same aircraft when done by IXO. The Yak-3 by IXO may be their worst issue, IMHO.

Thanks, stalag. The more I hear about Easy Models, the more I want them. I jumped on the Soviet stuff ‘cause nobody but IXO produces them (some of them, anyway), which makes adding these little beauties to my ever-growin’ collection all the more appetizing.

I have a feeling that Corgi and Dragon and Witty and whoever would do themselves a big favor if they issued soviet warbirds, be it Fw-190Ds, P-40s, Spits, Hurricanes – you name it.

In fact, based on your comparison between Easy Model's Yak-3 and IXO's version, I'll bet EM could produce a superlative Il-2. And wouldn’t that be a trip?!

Re: Easy Models

OK, I admit, I’m new to Easy Plastic models; but I just purchased (on the web) every last Soviet aircraft they make, in every livery. I realize I’m taking a risk, ‘cause I haven’t eyeballed these models up close and personal. But judging from various pics, they look terrific, plastic or not.
Did I just make the biggest, most egregious mistake of all time????

No, you made a very good decision!!!

Re: Easy Models

I have one MRC 1/72 tank - A Ferdinand. I must admit that this model looks very good. If I didn't pick it up, I would think that it was a Dragon. I have about 50 Dragon tanks and love them. But, MRC does make a very good tank. The only problem is that it is like picking up a rice cake, but the detail is pretty good.

Re: Easy Models

What does the dull coat do for the model?

Don't do what BDE tells you to do. Do what BDE would want you to do.

Re: Easy Models

It gives the model a more realistic flat finish.

Re: Easy Models

I've been thinking of giving some of my Easy Models a spray of dullcoat. Would masking tape work OK for masking off the clear plastic parts? Or do I need something more specialized?

Also, were such aircraft as the Hellcat and Corsair glossy when they left the factory?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Easy Models

Cappy, masking tape will work fine..just make sure to burnish it down tightly.

Corsairs and Hellcats did leave the factory glossy..They just usually didn't remain that way very long once they got to the tropics.
