I Wanna Decent 1/48 Scale P-51D - Darn It!

I know this aircraft has been done to death in all scales but...we still don't have an accurate one done in 1/48 scale. Is it really possible that the 10 year old Armour Franklin Mint model (one of their worst efforts) is the best we're ever gonna see of one of the best and most popular aircraft of all time? Eagles International must be the company to take up the cause to rectify this gross injustice!!! I'm going broke just thinking of all the liveries. Let's go EI !!!

If EI comes up with a good P-51D, I would certainly buy one or two. However, to be honest, I am in no hurry for it and I would very much preffer they issue their long promissed razorback P-47...

I talked to Richard at Eagles about upcoming models and with the P-51D being done "to death" by everyone else, it isn't a good possibility..

The problem is that it has not been done properly in 1/48 scale. In fact, it is done so poorly by Armour that I would say it has not been done yet! - oh well.

I am a fan of the FM stuff, but I agree with you `00% on the P-51D issue. I do however own the SE Old Crow signed by Bud.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Believe me, I have pointed that out more than once.. It is the same way with FMs Fw-190A (I have pushed this heavily), but since FM has already done it, he thinks that most collectors won't buy EI's just because they are more accurate..

Well - I don't know what's taking EI so long with producing more models. They are considered the best and should take advantage of their position as THE state of the art diecast model company. We need that promised P-47 Razorback and a P-39 and P-61 (why they bothered making the Texan, I'll never understand). We went from a Mustang to a Texan? There is lots of money to be made here I think!

Honestly, I couldn't see why they made the Texan either, but you wouldn't believe how well they are selling..
One thing to remember is that Eagles is a VERY small company and they don't have the resources to crank out planes like the big dogs do.. They make them when they can, and that is why it seems to take years between releases..

Are these models just side projects for EI? What is their main focus?

Eagles Intl. is owned by the same guy that owns OMI.. The models are their main focus, but the financial backing to produce these comes out of Richards pocket.. $50k for a mold is alot to fork out of your own pocket...

If you want something made sooner, I hear he is looking for investors...
