Is OMI a diecast model retailer that takes on some special proprietary projects then? If so...what is their website address?

This is one company i trust to make a great P-51D mold if they have the time and money to do so...Maybe in 2-3 years well see one..But
right now i'm looking forward to that P-47D that has been on the board for a while now.
After all they are one of the best 1:48 scale companies out there along with Carousel.

Re: I Wanna Decent 1/48 Scale P-51D - Darn It!

I wonder what the chances are of seeing the P-51D,P-39, A-20, and P-61 in 1/48th scale form either EI, C1, or HM?

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I'm beginning to think that Hobby Master may be the only company big enough to do these and do them accurately.

Re: I Wanna Decent 1/48 Scale P-51D - Darn It!

You would most likely see EI doing the P-61 and P-51D before you'd see a P-39 or A-20.. The P-61 is one of Richards favorite birds and he has been working on profiles (viable liveries) for a while now.. I do know it is on his "to-do" list, but that list could be years down the road..
Years.. sounds like a long time, but isn't that what a hobby is all about?? I started collecting 1/72 Corgi in 2000, so a few years isn't a big deal.. Afterall, If we got everything we wanted right now, it wouldn't be much of a hobby now would it??

Re: I Wanna Decent 1/48 Scale P-51D - Darn It!

The problem is that it has not been done properly in 1/48 scale. In fact, it is done so poorly by Armour that I would say it has not been done yet! - oh well.

Totally agree with you, 'slide...Armour did more harm than good by releasing their abomination in so many popular liveries, because now nobody else (who just might be up to the task of doing it right) has any interest....

Re: I Wanna Decent 1/48 Scale P-51D - Darn It!

I know this aircraft has been done to death in all scales but...we still don't have an accurate one done in 1/48 scale. Is it really possible that the 10 year old Armour Franklin Mint model (one of their worst efforts) is the best we're ever gonna see of one of the best and most popular aircraft of all time? Eagles International must be the company to take up the cause to rectify this gross injustice!!! I'm going broke just thinking of all the liveries. Let's go EI !!!

Several months ago, we had a poll going to determine how many MHII members would be interested in a 1:48 scale Mustang. The results were a bit disappointing. There are some members who feel passionately about this issue, like you 'slide, but most seem not interested in a 1:48 scale P-51D at the moment. Fortunately (or unfortunately, I guess, depending upon your point of view), diecast manufacturers don't make decisions based on opinions from this forum, so perhaps some company will decide the time is right and finally produce a beauty. But Harry is right, don't look to EI to do it in the near future (or distant, I believe); Mark has stated on this forum that, although he believes a beautiful P-51D mold should be done, it won't be anytime soon, at least by EI. If the next mold for EI is a T-Bolt, it will occupy OMI's resources for the foreseeable future. For the record, I will re-state (AGAIN!!) that I am in the camp that wants a different, 1:48 P-51D mold now, and I don't care who does it as long as TLC is given to detail and accuracy.
