T-6 thoughts

I wanted to hear what you all thought of the E.I. T-6? I got mine the other day.

Re: T-6 thoughts

Well, I am not at home right now, but in Michigan, sp I don't have any pics. I got the yellow one from the USAF with two others on order. I have to say that I am not 100% happy. The rivets are STUPID. Think Match box mig type rivets on the wings. As a guy who spends some time around a T-6, I have to say that it looks NOTHING like a T-6 wing. The lower panels of my T-6 were popping out of the wing, and the paint is not great. Some stuff is really great looking on the plane with the same style landing gear detail as the P51 line, and other details. The rivets really killed it for me. I love Eagles, and applaude them for doing a T-6, and I am happy to have it, and the others, coming, but did not expect to see something like this come from E.I. Now that is my opinion, you all must decide for yourselves. Some might not be bothered by it.

You might be the first on the forum to get it, MD. The only vendors I can find that have it in stock are OMI and Aiken's. It is still not in stock at the vendor I ordered from. More than a week since shipping, information is hard (IMPOSSIBLE) to come by. I still can't figure why OMI is not posting pictures of the production model. Anyway, can you elaborate on the problem with the lower panels (do you mean the flaps?), and the paint?

Harry... you have seen it, what are your thoughts?

I have only seen the pre-production model that was shown .
But you are right the AT-6 does not look like that..HM did a good job on theirs so i figure
EI was going to be even better.

The pre-pro pics Mark shot are pretty much what the plane looks like..

Re: T-6 thoughts

Maybe I came off a little harsh. But I am not a fan of the rivets on the model. My model has it lower wing panels kind of loose. Think of a plastic kit tat has an upper and lower half of the wings. The paint on mine was not perfect as well, as it was really thick in parts. I love E.I. so don't get me wrong, it is still a cool model, but not as good as the P-51 at least in my book. This might just be a bad one that I got as well. Other than the rivets, the model is cool. Great details, engine area looks great, and there is slight weathering of the prop. Overall it is a cool model, I just could have done without the rivets.

Re: T-6 thoughts

I would've thought that the release of this model woud have been accompanied with considerable fanfare - the silence from OMI kinda leaves me wondering ... aren't they proud of it, or what gives?

Agreed. The silence and "no pictures" ANYWHERE is maddening. I can still find it in stock at only two vendors. How much longer must one be patient?

Right now, they are busy shipping these to customers/retailers, Richard told me they have shipped out over a thousand in the last week alone.. I think Mark hasn't taken any pictures yet because he just found his lost camera late last week and he is incredibly busy.. Pictures will come soon, but I don't know when..
