Smile Re: T-6 thoughts

Here is a REVIEW I received on the TEXAN off of my web site:

The model has excellent decals and application of same. However, the model has excessively pronounced riveting on the wings and fuseloge. Also the model had drooping evelavaters which I sucessively corrected. The seam of the fuseloge halves is quite pronounced forward of the windsheild. The landing gear does not have the correct degree of forward slant when displaded with the gear in the down position. The over all quality of the model would be a 8 with 10 being perfect.
Thanks for the oppertunity to addressthese issues.

I believe this is a panel line. I do not see it more pronounced as any other panel line on the model.

Re: T-6 thoughts

Elmer: thoughtful review, just like your posts. It makes for a good read for those of us who don't own the model. You brought us there.

Re: T-6 thoughts

A follow up to my 9/13 review:

I received the missing parts from OMI today, as I knew I would, no charge (what an awesome company!).

Two weeks after receiving both models, they are growing on me. I think OMI produced a great mold. Yes... EI went for aggressive riveting that will not suite all tastes; yet this is a powerfully, packed, detailed model. The four yet to be released models can be improved with better finishing: 1) delicate application of paint that will not spoil/exaggerate the rivets, 2) sharp lines on anti glare panels, etc., and 3) a little more TLC to painting the crew. I am especially hopeful for 10106, for I think the riveting may look best on a careful bare metal finish. After reconsidering the grade I gave 10101 (especially 10101) and 10102 for paint finish, I now believe I was a bit generous; unfortunately, they are not finished to the same quality as the Mustangs or any C1 model.

For those of you who were disappointed by the exaggerated rivets, I suggest you may want to consider the yet to be released Texans. With TLC to finish, I believe these models can be awesome.

Re: T-6 thoughts

Here are some pictures to accompany my previous, rambling reviews. First, 10101 (this one is the more photogenic of the pair):

Re: T-6 thoughts

Second, 10102 (these pictures are awful, but hey, I'm a novice in poor lighting at night, trying to control camera shake; I think I tried to get too close, and adjusting depth of view is nigh impossible under these conditions):

Beautiful shots, Elmer!

I'm waiting for both of those diecasts to come down to a better price, then jump at the opportunity to acquire them both later.

Glad I asked. Thanks indeed. Can't wait to see my new Hondo.
