Re: Any intel on the EI T-Bolts?

Mark actually said that plans were to make a 1/48 Blackwidow, and A-26 Invader.

Don't hold your breath - it might be another few years before we see those based on current production.

If FM releases the razorback Tbolt, it is a good chance EI won't be making it..

Re: Any intel on the EI T-Bolts?

If FM releases the razorback Tbolt, it is a good chance EI won't be making it..

Harry, do you think Richard or Mark can give us any information?

I am sorry to say that this was easy to see coming. I submitted a post last year that predicted someone would beat EI to a razorback T-Bolt... if EI did not become more aggressive with its release schedule. I understand that EI is a small company with limited capital and thus will be limited in the number of releases it can produce. Nevertheless, if it cannot get a model to market in a more timely fashion, it will get beat by someone else, every time. Does anyone remember what happened to EI's plans for a Fw 190D? For my part, I am OK with Hobby Master, Carousel 1, and (possibly) Corgi's 1:48 competition, but to get beat by FM/A... well, this is hard for me to swallow. And it is not because I have any fundamental problem with the FM/A name. It is because I have a fundamental problem with FM/A's fantastically under-detailed products. How badly is a company like EI needed to offer QUALITY as an alternative to the mediocre products FM/A offers? Unless FM/A can prove it will up the ante and produce more TLC and pride in its product line, I will wait for a quality razorback T-Bolt until I go to the grave. If there are others out there that feel this way, now is a good time to speak up... perhaps the folks at OMI can be influenced by our voices.

Re: Any intel on the EI T-Bolts?

If I knew that EI was still going to release the T-bolt, I would wait for it and get a few versions for sure! I still can't understand why EI produced the Texan before the T-bolt.

Re: Any intel on the EI T-Bolts?

I don't know if you'll get an answer to this, but things change on a regular basis, so I don't know..

I once discussed (with Richard) the possibility of EI doing a P-51D and Fw-190A.. His answer was "No" because FM had already done them and he doesn't think the 1/48 market can bear 2 manufacturers making the same type of plane and all the alternate schemes that come with it.. This isn't a matter of making 800 planes, it is the matter of making 6 different schemes at 800 apiece to recoup the initial investment and make it all worthwhile.. Even though FMs versions are awful, the average collector will say, "I already have the FM version, why do I need EIs??" And for the most part, he is right, whether we like it or not..

The 1/48 market is just not what it used to be, and even though it is somewhat making a comeback, with new entrants into the market offering 1/48 planes at rockbottom prices, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that we will probably see more companies bailing out of the market as it just isn't worth it for them anymore..

I've said this before and I'll say it again.. HM, while making nice stuff, will be the death of this hobby as we know it if they continue at their current pace... Mark my words......
