Re: How do ya like'em P51-b/c's?

Other than a very slight gap in the radiator area on "Shagri La", no QC issues whatsoever on any of my 3 EI Mustangs.

I consider "Patty Ann II" my best diecast in 1/48 scale, bar none. Better than C1s, and that's even though I love all my C1s with the Fw-190D-13 as top-of-the-line IMO.

I'm seriously considering buying at least one more EI Mustang.

I totaly agree with you FVP (although there are some minor seat and instrument panel mis-alignment issues on both models). I have "Shangri La" and "Patty Ann II" and might get a third. I am thinking of "Ding Hao". Which one do you have your sight on?

I'm thinking of the Eugeniusz Horbaczewski one (RAF/Polish).

I understand that one comes pre-assembled, versus the 3 that I have which required some work (not much). I currently have Patty Ann II, Shangri La, and Ina the Macon Belle.

FVD, you can't go wrong with the RAF version - it is EXCELLENT! (It is pre-assembled, unlike Patty Ann & IMB)

Re: How do ya like'em P51-b/c's?

Got my first EI bird today and was disappointed! I hate to be negative but it has that same mark on the underside wing some of you have also reported. It also has a bad rub mark on the underside of one of the ailerons on the tail. The worst part is the landing gear. I put the tail wheel in as I was going 'gear down', but then was unable to get the main gear in. It looks like they sent me 2 right side gear so one of them is backward. Soooo I was gong to pull the tail wheel back out and put the bird on the stand until I get the gear issue resolved but it will not come out! It is in so snug (unlike the main gear) that it will not come out. I tried some pliers with cloth around them but still cannot get it out. I am afraid to squeeze any harder and break it. Also, one of the rocket tubes does not fit properly and the front of it is all off center and just cannot be displayed. I guess I will try to contact EI for a fix, hate to make the vendor responsible. So far in my switch to 1/48 scale I have had better luck and quality with CL and HM. I really thought I would get the Polish bird also but now will wait and see if I can get this one right first. But I can't get the bird back in the box now with tail wheel in!

Wizard,
You can grab the tail wheel and wiggle it until it comes out.. I have done this on many Mustangs with no breakage yet.. On the plus side, if you did break the tailwheel, you can always get a replacement from EI with the other gear you need..

Thanks Hworth, I will try to contact them in the morning. I REALLY want to like this plane, Tex Hill, just need to get the bugs out. Really would like to see a new mold. I dont want to go the FM route, just not up to par.
