Re: How do ya like'em P51-b/c's?

I have to say I am impressed by Eagles International's P-51B/C series. They are nicely detailed, the liveries are well excuted, and they depict the main WW2 combat model of Mustang rather than the more famous D model. I have the Tex Hill Mustang, and it really is one of my favorites in 1/48. These definately blow away Franklin Mint's rather pathetic offering of the Mustangs. My only beef with most of Eagles International's line is the fact that most of these things come unassembled. This to me detracts from both the boxability and collectibility of them as constant dismantling will likely cause wear and tear on the model. However, the RAF and Tex Hill Mustangs come put together, with the exception of their gear and canopies, and this made a definately influenced my purchase decision. I say go for one of them, they slot nicely into anybody's 1/48 collection, along with Carousel 1's 1/48 line.

I think we will see a lot more of Eagles International in the future.
They have about the best in the 1/48 scale market and it will only get better.

Re: How do ya like'em P51-b/c's?

I recently came across EI's P51Bs Ina the Macon Belle and Patty Anne in a local hobby store in what seemed to be very old boxes. I noticed that these models aren't assembled i.e. wings, fuselage and attachments are separate - do all of the EI line require assembly ?

There is plenty of metal content in the EI P-51Bs. I have the Tex Hill P-51B and I adore it.

Thumbs up Re: How do ya like'em P51-b/c's?

I've just bought Buddy Archer's P51B/C (Ina the Macon Belle) and next to the Carousel 1 FW190D11 Red 4 it is one of the finest pieces of die-cast I've ever seen (in any scale) . The detailing and quality are second to none and superior to the larger 1/35 scale 'showroom' GMPs (which are also excellent).

If Eagles International continue with this level of detail and quality, combined with superb liveries, I suspect they'll soon become the quality benchmark for 1/48 scale (with Carousel 1 and HM hot on their heels, hopefully also with FM in tow) .

(If the P47 and Texan are even close to their P51B/C models, they are going to be sure-fire winners ... )

Trial and Error: Lesson Learned.

We originally thought, with the unassembled model, that we could duck a case shipping price adjustment required for packages of certain dimensions. Shortly after we had achieved this UPS changed their policy, now we pay more anyway. Every model after 10004 is and will be assembled at the factory.

Personally, I have no problem with the unassembled version as the box is a lot smaller, which helps with shipping costs as well as storage . It's also not particularly difficult to assemble and is a helluva lot easier than assembling the average 1/72 Dragon .
