Re: The Typhoon

has always seemed an odd choice to me, because of the limited variety of schemes.
On the other hand, the Spitfire IX/XVI with teardrop canopy, or FW190 from A7 to A9 (and associated F, G variants...) don't exist in diecast at that scale...

Actually, Franklin makes the A version of the Fw-190, although it needs MAJOR improvements.. I have lobbied Eagles to do a Fw-190A, and I would LOVE to see a MkXIV Griffon Spitfire, but there are no good model kits to base the prototype off of..

Actually there is a model kit...a very old kit by MATCHBOX in 1:32nd scale to be exact.

Whats the quality of their kits? That looks like it would be a fun build.

Re: Here's a little teaser for you.

I'd like to see a Ta-152, a Comet, any Japense, Russian, or Italian fighters... and even a first rate P-51D (overdone, but not in 1:48... FM's don't cut it for me).

Nice, but that is a Mk22, not a MkXIV.. Still Griffon powered, but also post war..

True, but I don't see much difference between the two variants = shape-wise.

Mk XIV

Mk XXII

Re: Here's a little teaser for you.

They are very similar, but I was thinking more along the lines of the "razorback"? version..

Re: Here's a little teaser for you.

Oh please, please PLEASE, do one of those spits!! It deserves a decent casting like the P-51B got. Franklin is only doing the Mk V right? And who cares what they are doing anyway!! I believe a beatiful model will sell despite who is doing inferior ones.

Please do a Spit
Please do a Spit
Please do a Spit
(I'm groveling... how sick)

JUST DO A SPIT!

I rate the quality of the MATCHBOX plastic modet kits (the Spitfire was done in the late 70s, IIRC) from very good to excellent on par with Revell and Monogram kits of the 70s. Yes, it was definitely a fun kit to build and I wish I still had this particular Spitfire.
