Re: Here's a little teaser for you.

"If you want to take a picture to send to your girlfiend back home, stand on the wing of a P-51, but if you are going to fly a combat mission, you had better pray you were getting into a P-47."--That was told to me by a veteran P-47 pilot.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Here's a little teaser for you.

OMG.....I have talked to vets that flew both and they said the same thing.
I said why's that.
They told me because when they get their butts shot at in a dogfight that P-47 can take hits far better then a P-51 any day.
On top of that it gets you home in one piece...
I for one do not know...But that is not going to change my mind...
P-51D is the greatest fighter ever.
But i'm still getting that Eagles P-47 Razorback...

Re: Here's a little teaser for you.

Same here my man. As far as fighters go in my book, the P-51 is tops. The P-47 is just mean as hell though. I love the fact that Eagles has the rocket tubes on it.

Thumbs up The "Jug" is just a victim

of not having as handsome a look as the P51. But what do figures says ?

Fastest US WW2 fighter : P47M (the P51H was too late) ;

Longest range single engined fighter : P47N ;

Best firepower and capacity to take punishment : P47 ;

Better ground attack aircraft : P47 ;

etc...!

The "Stang" is the "sport" fighter "par excellence", while the "Jug" is a deadly war machine.

All that to say that good as it was, the P51 wasn't the only great plane of the era.

Have to agree with Skunky!!! The stang is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! The stang made quite a few aces as well as did the t-bolt. I guess it is just a matter of taste.

Re: Here's a little teaser for you.

I'm a real fan of the Eagles International models and currently have four of their P-51s in my collection. I'll definitely be adding this to my collection.

Question though. Has Gabreski's P-47 D, the one with the invasion stripes and camo, been done so often that it isn't being considered lately? I say that as demonstrated by the Dragon and, later, Corgi releases. I have that version from Matchbox, but an Eagles release of that plane would be awesome!

There is a rumor floating that the Bubbletop Tbolt will be made alongside the razorback, and if so, you will probably see Gabbys version in that one also..
