Good looking Sherman.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I think this beats the T-34 for the "Least Domestic Schemes Announced Before a German-Marked Variant was Previewed Award." You can put it right next to the "captured" M4A1 and M4A3(76) when they are released. (And you know they will be.) I certainly hope someone convinces Dragon to make some captured tank destoyers...Then maybe we'll get some in US schemes later on.

Re: Dragon Armor recently announced...

Okay, I give up, what is up with all those "G" and "W" markings on the Firefly? I now know that it is supposed to be German, but when I first saw it I thought the Brits or Poles or someone handpainted some unit markings on there. The all white cross doesn't help things.

So is this a REAL German captured Firefly scheme? Anyone point to a pic? Because I've never heard of Germans painting letters all over captured vehicles, just lots and lots of really big black crosses. I thingk that if I was an allied soldier seeing that coming I would think that it was one of ours, and if I was a German soldier seeing that coming I would open fire. Why not paint crosses instead of the letter G. Is the "G" supposed to stand for German? Because "german" in german begins with a "D".

I think I'll buy this and paint over the Gs and give it back to the Brits.

According to Regenberg's Captured American and British Tanks... That particular Sherman had been captured and was being examined as to what type of metal it was made of. G for cast and W for rolled steel. There are a couple of pics and a caption in the book.

Re: Dragon Armor recently announced...

Thanks for that!

Man, of all the weirdo choices Dragon makes in their armor liveries, they go for a non-combat testing scheme! You'd think that if they were (and we all knew they were) going to make captured German versions of the Shermans, they'd at least give us one of the famous and well photographed versions of the Firefly that was actually used in combat. But wait, this is Dragon, they'll be announcing another "captured" Firefly within a month! I guess we should be happy if they do at least 2 versions of each allied tank in non-german markings.
