Dragon Armors latest releases

Went down to the local hobby store today and picked up the latest releases in the Dragon Armor range; 60139 (German halftrack) and 60249 (captured German T-34/85).

60139 is excellent just like the previous halftracks already released. The camo stripes on the halftrack look a little thinner than in the pictures, but everything else is as to be expected. I'm looking forward to other halftrack variants from Dragon down the road. They're already releasing several halftrack variants in their plastic kit line so it's only a matter of time before we see them in the Dragon Armor line too.

60249 is very nice too. It is 100% identical to the already released Dragon Armor T-34/85 (60248) with the only exception being the markings (decals) on the side of the turret (both even have the exact same shade of green).

60257 (Sherman M1A1) has now arrived as well according to the Dragon USA website. I plan on getting at least 6 of these since they were so common in WWII and making slight changes to each so that they're all unique. Maybe add a 1:72 scale aftermarket hedgerow cutting device and add crews to all the hatches.

Re: Dragon Armors latest releases

Dear LegioLXX11,

If you want to make variants of Shermans, buy one of the Dragon Sherman kits. It has photo etched metal parts for the hedge cutter. Also, you would get a set of the excellent decals which can be used to detail many vehicles. The photo-etched parts look wonderful, but tiny!Same goes for the 251 decal set. You can make up many vehicles with this decal set, provided you have patience and a magniying aid. You could go blind, they're so tiny!

I'm about to build the Dragon kit of the 251 Stuka zu Fuss which seems to be a winner. I can compare it to the FOV ready-built when I'm finished.

If you can't be bothered building a 251, you could also use the Kar 98s to add detail to your ready-builts by filling up the stowage racks.

I plan on building a few 251s with all ports open and doors open too. This way I can add the Preiser set of Panzer grenadiers jumping off and over the sides and through the doors.

Re: Dragon Armors latest releases

I'm waiting on the M4A3E2. When that one comes out I'll make my judgement on DML's armor. But the Shermans so far look to be the best at this scale hands down.

Re: Dragon Armors latest releases

So there were what, 5,000 M4A1's made during the war, and now Dragon has gone ahead and made the same tank that FOV made for it's M4A1 - the Battling Bitch. Oh I know Dragon's will be so much finer and all, but jeez, the BB is not that much of a looker, and it would have been nice to get someing else since so many people already have the BB. Ah well, at least three more Dragon A1's are to follow I'm sure.

Re: Dragon Armors latest releases

At least it's an Allied tank, I'll take it over their newest baby up on Dragon Models USA. DRR 60259, "Firefly VC, German Army, Germany 1944!" Oh boy... When I said before that you can never have too many Shermans...In this case I'm not sure. Of all the fancy schemes out there we're already going for captured armor? *sigh*

Re: Dragon Armors latest releases

I wonder if they'll issue any Shermans with black crosses?
