New Jagdtigers... more or less.

Two announcements for September 2007 look vaguely familiar

New: 60267 1/72 Sd.Kfz. 186 Jagdtiger w/Zimmerit (Henschel Version) w/Crane, sPzJgAbt 653, Germany 1945

Not so new: 60109 1/72 Jagdtiger "#323" (Henschel Version) w/Zimmerit, Austria 1945

New: 60266 1/72 Jagdtiger Henschel Version w/Crane, s.Pz.Jg.Abt.512, Germany 1945

Not so new: 60110 1/72 Jagdtiger "X8", Sd.Kfz. 186, (Henschel Version) sPzJgAbt 512, Germany 1945 w/Zimmerit

Maybe Dragon should also offer a 'stand-alone' version of the crane.

Re: New Jagdtigers... more or less.

A3Driver,
Hey there.

What were the chains used for? Towing off damaged, but recoverable tanks?

This looks pretty neat, and yes, I might just find myself getting one. However, I cannot see it being a big seller.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: New Jagdtigers... more or less.

According to Dragon Models USA "this type of crane was used to lift up the superstructure roof in order to gain access to the fighting compartment for maintenance." A Jagdtiger with an open roof and visible interior would make a great diorama, but just putting the cranes (as good as they look) on two older ("face-lifted" they call it) models... well, not for me.
