is there a need for more tigers ?

As collectors do we need any more tigers in 1.72 or 1.35 scale ? looking at my own collection i would like to add a tiger 1 vorpanzer with snorkel,in either scale ,a tunisian tiger 1 in 1.72,tiger 1 no 131 captured by the british and presently in working order at bovington,in either scale, the real thing sure is something to behold, then i would like the late tiger called COLMAR,in olive drab in service with french occupation forces, now at samur,in any scale.lastly a king tiger in red primer,in either scale, come to think about it i may repaint an existing king tiger in red primer myself, since a dragon version may never come to the shelf.or do we have more than enough ?

Re: is there a need for more tigers ?

Frankly, I'm up to my kazoo ( is there such a word? ) in Tigers and Panthers in various scales. Sure, I'd probably buy a few more if they were done in interesting schemes, but I'd much prefer a Char B, Cruiser, Valentine, Swedish Strv-103, Merkava, and others still waiting to be done.

I think you were thinking of "wazoo" which is probably not a real word either!

Wazoo a real word, it's in my copy of the Websters Dictionary. Gotta have words like wazoo fixintoo, ok that one is not in Websters.

Hmm? So what about Kalamazoo? Nope, that's a real city. I visited an advertising client located there once.

Interesting. It's not in MY websters (a somewhat older one, however), nor in my very large, 2 book, World Book dictionary. However, I just googled it, and it came up, noted to be slang, however, and referred to what I thought it did.....one's behind!

I agree Enigma. More tigers and panthers in odd/exotic camo schemes would be welcome from dragon, or any other source in 1.72. The North African Tigers would be welcome, especially.

Yes indeed. It boggles the mind that they haven't done so already. Wouldn't exactly strain their resources.

I don't mind new Panther & Tiger releases so long as they're interesting. I hope they've learned their lesson regarding boring items with unattractive schemes - look at how many of their Tiger Is that didn't sell well. The last two Panthers (the Warsaw & Normandy ones) were borderline hideous.

Until I see something unique releases I won't be buying any more Tiger Is, King Tigers or Panthers for that matter.

Sentiments echoed. Someone once said on this forum that "there can never be too many Tigers in the market". Being a young and impressionable diecast armour collector who was just starting out then, I really didn't know what to make of the statement. I thought the diecast scene was already suffering from the Tiger fatigue syndrome with just about every manufacturer churning out Tigers and its variants by the bucket loads.

Fast forward 4 months later I began to realise that there are Tigers and there are Tigers. Manufacturers like HM, Dragon, Minichamps and Tamiya produce the best Tiger models IMHO...OK, some of their models come in such wierd paint schemes that are quite revolting to the eye. But they are generally very well done and it's always a joy seeing them in my display showcase. There are other companies (who shall remain unamed) who jump onto the bandwagon to cash in and produce Tigers just to satisfy market demands.

I've got Tigers and King Tigers in 1:72, 1:56, 1;48, 1:35 and 1:32 scales from the above manufacturers. Am I sufferring from Tiger fatigue? Not in the least bit. The Tiger will always have a special place in my diecast armour collection because it is such an enigma on WW2 battlefields despite being relatively few in number. So I'll say bring on more Tigers!!!
