1/35 Announcement

Announced for August 2008: DRR 61021, Tiger I Late Production w/Zimmerit s.Pz.Abt.508, Italy 1944

After the disappointing "white-wash Elefant with Zimmerit", which was just a repainted older model without Zimmerit, it looks as if Dragon does it right this time.

Quote taken from Dragon Models USA website:
The fully assembled and finished model is a Late Production variant of a tank fighting in Italy in 1944. A notable aspect of this model is the Zimmerit coating reproduced in exacting detail, this item being the first 1/35 Tiger I with Zimmerit in the Dragon Armor range. To enable the depiction of Zimmerit, a completely new turret, upper and lower hull were produced. The Zimmerit is expertly crafted, representing as good a finish as only skillful modelers could achieve. The model is finished in an overall three-color camouflage finish, and this has been carefully painted onto the vehicle, which is itself an accurately dimensioned and detailed replica of the original tank. This Zimmerit coating adds a new look to an already popular tank, and contributes to an aggressive and attractive subject from the Italian theater.

Re: 1/35 Announcement

looks great A3driver,and correct, looks like a 2nd co vehicle of 508 in italy, certainly one i will be buying ,well done dragon, zim looks good too,508 mostly had robber wheeled tigers in italy, but did receive steel wheeled versions later in the campaign.508s 3rd co famous for having remote controlled explosive BORGWORDS work with the tigers, what an interesting model that combination would have been.there is a great photo of a 508 tiger on its side at a roadside in italy, with a silly allied soldier standing under the tracks, what a photo, always wanted to build that as a diorama, never know might do it with this model, when i buy it,i am sorry i cannot produce the photo for you, dont know how.GREAT MODEL DRAGON,should look better in the flesh ,always does, with their range.i recommend all collectors to order it ,sure to sell out quickly, and be desirable in the future.

Yes, I could see the picture in your hosted images. Let's hope the Tiger does not make one final move :-)

Re: 1/35 Announcement

This one is a home run in my opinion, very purty! Way to go Dragon! Be nice if they "corrected" their zimmerit mistake on the Elefants as well..

Re: 1/35 Announcement

would a betting man put his hard earned money on ,what will DRAGONS next NEW MODEL in the 1.35 th range be ? A SHERMAN,first allied 1.35 th, A T34/76,A STURMTIGER,A SDKFZ 251 or A STUG III,to continue our facination in all things GERMAN, and will DRAGON continue to disguise GERMAN S S vehicles as UNIDENTIFIED UNIT vehicles.IF its to be A SHERMAN please give us one with an interesting camo scheme not just a dull olive drab scheme.surely we need more than TIGERS AND PANTHERS in the range,we need something to get our teeth into .THIS RANGE has great potential if carefully handled at DRAGON,variety and balance is required in order to maintain the ranges COLLECTIBILITY,but being a betting man,my money will be going on ANOTHER GERMAN VEHICLE,its a safe bet with little odds, perhaps too much imagination at DRAGON carries too much of a gamble,TIGERS maintain the STATUS QUO,perhaps we will get another WITTMANN or a CARIUS,certainties to accrue value in the future or will DRAGON gamble and let loose a SHERMAN or all the SHERMAHOLICS out there, who consider their addiction worthy of A GAMBLE.

Re: 1/35 Announcement

Here's my bet:
The next tank will be Wittmann's 007, possibly as a Cyber-Hobby release, so they can start using that new zimmerit mold. I predict that the first Allied tank will be a cookie cutter Sherman, as this is how Dragon introduced Allied stuff in 1/6 (simple and cliche). I guess we'll see...

Re: 1/35 Announcement

Announced for September 2008: DRR 61015, 1/35 Panther G Late Production w/Zimmerit, 9.Pz.Div. "Hohenstaufen", Normandy 1944, & German Figure

Quote from Dragon Models USA website:
Dragon Armor’s newest large-scale release is a Late Production variant of the Panther G dressed in markings of 9. Panzerdivision “Hohenstaufen”. The unit name Hohenstaufen referred to a famous line of German rulers in the 12th and 13th centuries. This division was based in France at the time of the Allied landings in Normandy in June 1944. After arriving in the area in late June after suffering repeated air attacks, it was engaged in fierce battles around Caen. After a fighting withdrawal, it was able to escape the Falaise pocket, and it proceeded to retreat through France and Belgium. This new 1/35 scale tank is the first Dragon Armor Panther G bearing a coating of Zimmerit, a feature that has been accurately replicated in miniature. Painted in a three-color camouflage scheme, the model also wears large tactical numbers on the turret sides. This fine fully assembled model features an accompanying of a pre-painted 1/35 Geman figure. Taken from a pool of available figures, the figure varies from model to model in random selection.

Personal opinion: a must-buy :-)

Re: 1/35 Announcement

I will place an order for this model, looks great, will be a great addition to my 1.35 collection and with 61021 looming, next few months look interesting, well done dragon ,keep them coming, good addition if you collect S.S div vehicles as this is not a HEER vehicle. i hope the various figures supplied do not diminish the look,if it doesnt,it was a good idea,a request i am sure that was voiced on the hangar.

Re: 1/35 Announcement

DRR 61027 1/35 Kingtiger Porsche Turret w/Zimmerit, Command Version s.Pz.Abt.506, announced for September 2008:

The paint scheme reminds me of DRR 61018 (below), but the antenna is new.

Personal opinion: I'm afraid I'll buy one nevertheless (sigh!).
