New Sherman diorama

Check out this on dragonmodelsusa.com
Dragon Models USA - 1/72 LCM(3) Landing Craft + M4A1 w/Deep Wading Kit
I expected this to be announced this year, as the kit version was in their regular catalog. Hopefully we will see some complete new stuff this year as well. Also, the Dragon expo has their 1/6 show exclusive being a Stug Ace, so I guess we can expect a 1/72 stug III to be the expo special.

Re: New Sherman diorama

I agree that is a neat looking diorama set with a landing craft...
The looks of the water hitting the beach is a cool idea.

Re: New Sherman diorama

Be neat if some day someone would put out a model of the DUKW.

Re: New Sherman diorama

I wonder what unit they think this tank belongs to. Large Hatch M4A1…With wading trunks…Now that’s a rare Sherman! Most, of the very few, 75mm armed M4A1s with the “Big Hatch” hulls were converted into Duplex Drive vehicles. At any rate, these vehicles had extra cast-in armor (in place of the appliqué armor found on most dry stowage Shermans) and late 75mm turrets with loader’s hatches. This tank appears to be an early turreted M4A1(75)w…A fantasy machine.

Lacking the cast-in side armor, a T23 type 76mm turret would look good on this hull...If only it could clear to the intake stack...

Scratching my head over this one.

Re: New Sherman diorama

Now that is pretty cool. I like this idea quite a bit.

Re: New Sherman diorama

I wonder if the Sherman is pre-built, or if they give you the following to go along with the landing craft?

Dragon Models USA - 1/72 Sherman M4 Normandy w/Deep Wading Kit

Wouldn't make much sense to give you a pre-built landing craft with a "kit" Sherman.

Dragon tends to do whatever the opposite of 'sense' would be sometimes.

Re: New Sherman diorama

The M4 in that kit is a different (and much more accurate) model Sherman. I'm looking forward to getting it as a Dragon Armor release sooner or later.

The pre-built diorama above is based on this kit. Which in turn is based on this kit. (Which we got as this prebuilt a while ago.) Usually with the Dragon Armor line we get a new dio base to go along with an old vehicle that didn't sell too well. This is a strange case where we get an old dio base (that didn't sell too well) to go along with a new vehicle.

Yeah, it's nice. Dragon should have come up with the idea yonks ago. When I got the DRR60205 LCM(3) some time back, I had to buy my Sherman separately. The only problem is that the LCM(3) is mounted on a flimsy plastic base, which makes it look kind of cheap though.
