Dragon Armor DRR60248

I just got back from my local hobby shop with lots of new goodies including Dragon Armor DRR60248 (T-34/85 Mod. 1944). The tank itself is very nice, but there seemed to be some issues with the weathering.

There is light gray weathering sprayed on various parts of the top of the tank. I'm not real sure what it's supposed to represent as I think the tank would look better without it. The local hobby shop had 6 of these in stock and 4 of them had alot more gray weathering than the other 2. The gray weathering was all in the same spots on all 6 tanks, it's just that 2 of them had less while the other 4 had alot more and was much more noticeable and just didn't look right.

I'm very glad that I got to inspect this particular tank before buying it because I got to choose the better ones to buy. This may be one of those tanks that people may want to try and get locally rather than online so you can see what you're getting ahead of time. It's not horrible looking, but I think the heavier gray weathering takes something away from the tank itself.

thanks for the warning, Legio VXX11,

What do you think of the Dragon effort compared to the FOV version?

Re: Dragon Armor DRR60248

I have yet to see FOV issues look better than the Dragon version, but I'm happy that Dragon don't issue their tanks half finished. I think Dragon need to recondsider their part kit aircraft range. Imo if people wanted to build this stuff, they'd buy a plastic kit.

Funny you ask because I was just comparing the two next to each other 10 minutes ago. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, though if I could only have one I would pick the Dragon Armor version because it seems a little more crisp (if that makes sense) than the Forces of Valor version. I will take comparison pictures of the two tomorrow (Saturday).

Re: Dragon Armor DRR60248

When I get mine and it has the weathering problem I'll just have to put my personal touches on it....like I do to most of my planes and tanks anyway.

I agree. The FOV items seem a bit fat to me so I understand what you are saying completely. The price is nice but you sacrifice what seems to be a more accurate rendition according to scale. Combine that with the fact that the FOV seem to lack the marks of a designer with attention to detail and I have generally quit buying their releases.
