New 1/72 Firefly - new 1/35 Panther

DRR 60367 Firefly Ic 2nd Squadron, 1st Krechowiecki Lancers, 2nd Armoured Brigade, 2nd 'Warsaw' Armoured Div., Italy 1945

Quote: "Dragon Armor is proud to announce its first ever Firefly Ic. Based on the Sherman I (M4), it has a cast one-piece differential housing and a characteristic turret stowage box – this housed the radio equipment that was displaced by fitting the larger gun. The turret and lower hull are brand new castings that capture the characteristic look of this Sherman variant. Painted in a standard green camouflage scheme, the tank is finished in the markings of a Polish Firefly from the 2nd Squadron, 1st Krechowiecki Lancers, 2nd Armoured Brigade, of the 2nd “Warsaw” Armored Division. This particular tank christened “Rycerz I” served in Italy in 1945."

1/35 Panther G Late Production 1.Pz.Rgt.26 "Großdeutschland" France 1944

Quote: "The model represents a Panther Ausf.G of 1./Panzer Regiment 26, of the Großdeutschland (which translates as “Greater Germany”) Division. This division was an elite army formation and was equipped with the best German equipment available. While the division fought exclusively on the Eastern Front in the latter years of WWII, various units came and went. In June 1944 at the time of the Allied landings in Normandy, 1./Pz.Rgt .26 was based in France in order to train on Panthers. The unit’s Panthers were quickly thrown into the attack to stem the build up of Allied forces, and this is the time period depicted by this model."

I likes that Panther -- as I'm now missing my R01 MC Panther with a similar scheme... too bad it doesn't have skirts!

Nice firefly - and shockingly in allied markings!

I'm only moderately annoyed that I already have the Aoshima version...

Re: New 1/72 Firefly - new 1/35 Panther

I REALLY want that Panther but I made a promise with myself to skip all the releases that aren't accurate (i.e. the Zimmerit-less Elefants and late Tigers). So, is there any chance that I could reasonably pretend that tank is a post Sept '44 Panther?

Welcome to the 'flak barrage' (forum) tommy2close!! Nice job on the Firefly Mk Ic and Panther Ausf G!! I might be adding these to my small Dragon collection, but I prefer the larger scale tanks (1:30, 1:32 scales).

Looking forward to annoying the 'former' Florida Diecast Forum members!!

Re: New 1/72 Firefly - new 1/35 Panther

Hello Tommy2close, welcome from one newbie to another. I just leave to read the views and opinions expressed on this forum. Very therapeutic!

Like Theodore, I have now shifted my focus to larger scale tanks. The Sherman looks decent though, but Dragon's 1:72 range is aleady quite well established. I wish they can accelerate the release of more new models to their 1:35 range. Would like to see Dragon introduce some Allied tanks in that scale.

Thanks for all the kind words of welcome! I have been a long time visitor on this board and I especially love the informative reviews provided by Chascbv and others. I was actually waiting anxiously for him to weigh in on these pieces, as to me, his word is law
