Arrow Panzer I to IV ??? New members first post :-)

Hello everyone,

my name is Rob, I am 32 years old, from Germany and I collect Dragon 1:72 armor and aircraft. I recently stumbled over this forum and I am happy to have found it. So far I have never seen so much info about diecast tanks on one site. That brings me to my first question. Can anyone here tell me if any manufacturer does german Panzer I, II, III and IVs in 1:72 ? (and in good quality ?). And how do you think are the chances that Dragon will make some ?

I have seen that FOV made a 1:72 Panzer IV - does anyone have this model ? Is it any good , and where would I be able to get hold of one ?

Thanks a lot and best regards,

Rob

Welcome Rob. I hope you enjoy your experience on this forum. It's got a lot of savvy members who do a good bit of posting. Regarding the 1:72nd scale German tanks, Admiral has put out a number of relatively good Mark IIIs, including a recent entry with side shields and a longer gun barrel. Matchbox also put out a short barreled Mark IV, but this is very hard to find now. Finally, the old CDC Armour line included long barreled Mark IVs, but again, I rarely see these on eBay. I have both the Matchbox and Armour tanks as well as Admiral's first two Mark IIIs ---both short barreled--- and I regard the latter as the best. Perhaps another member should comment on FOV's product for you. Happy hunting.

HM is planning to release the Pz IV in its 1/72 range. The first issue will be a Ausf G.

Considering HM's quality standards, you shouldn't be disappointed...

Re: Panzer I to IV ??? New members first post :-)

Hello, I have taken some pictures of my recently acquired 1:72 Panzer III Ausf L from Admiral Toys. It's got a very nice, clean look and the details are very nicely done. But I thought the model would look better with some light weathering. Some of my friends commented that it look rather like a "toy" when compared to the finishing on the 1:72 armoured vehicles from Dragon and Hobby Master. But all in all, I am very pleased with it and glad to add it to my collection.

It would be nice if someone put out the Panzer I and II. I would not mind having a few of these in 1/32nd scale.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

The FOV 1:72 Pz IV will not be out until later this year.

A good site to look at what's been released in 1:72 is Military Diecast 1/72. Another good site to look at diecast armor models is Mike's Diecast Tanks and Armour - Home.

I have the first two Admiral Toys Panzer IIIs. Very nice if a bit fragile. They are still available too. Welcome to the forum Elch-Division and Paladin18.

That's cool news. I'd like one or two. What's a good price for the HMs? I've been eyeing them but haven't yet bought any. Some really nice options since they've broken the mold and brought out some stuff no-one else is doing.

Cruver,

King & Country has a Panzer Mk I, in 1/30th scale, and it comes with a tank commander. I think the detail is excellent and they make the best figs in the business!! The only problem is that this tank was retired about 6 months ago and you can buy it on eBay auctions.

Looking forward to annoying the 'former' Florida Diecast Forum members!!

Re: Panzer I to IV ??? New members first post :-)

This is also my first post though I have been reading posts for a while now. My collecting focus has been 1/72 German AFV's since I re-discovered my fascination for these vehicles a few years ago. (I had abstained from collecting 20 years ago, after my first Panzer army was destroyed by an exuberant 3-year old)

Dragon Armour has done a great job on giving us our fix of later panzers and variants. Diecast quality has suffered as their popularity rises as quickly as the plastic content goes up and metal parts are replaced with metal weights in the chassis.

The Matchbox and CDC Panzer IV 's available on eBay can still be found at relatively decent prices if you can be patient and don't get caught up in a bidding war. I got a Wirbelwind for $9.99 as a "Buy it Now" a couple of month ago.

Altaya Ixo has several German AFV's that show up on eBay. Quality and detail is inconsistent. I count their StuG III G and Pz IV H amongst my favorites, where their Brummbar I find kinda blah.

Admirals Panzer III's do a great job with the varieties they have produced. They're just not as nicely weathered as Dragons.

I have been forced to go to either plastic, resin or metal to fill in the early panzer varieties of Panzer I, II, 35t and 38t. Some tanks are not available in any format (Panzer 1a)

So welcome to the club and happy tank hunting!
