| A new Elefant by Dragon? When Dragon announced their new Elefant in 1/35 I was happy to see the term "zimmerit" in the description. As I've posted elsewhere in this forum, and as Dragon should know, Elefants had a coat of zimmerit paste in contrast to Ferdinands. In fact, zimmerit was one of the features added during the conversion from Ferdinand to Elefant, together with a commander's cupola, a bow machine gun, etc.
Well, the "zimmeritted" Elefant is here and most surprisingly has no zimmerit. So the model is wrong -- Elefant = zimmerit. Of course, the model is excellent in all other respects, and may satisfy those who are not so picky about historical accuracy. But here comes the second surprise this new release has in store for us all -- this Elefant is simply the previously released one plus a few clouds of sprayed white paint on!!! Is this new policy by Dragon one that is here to stay? Will the next Elefant in the range be this same edition with a 1/35 bottle of Zubrowka vodka added on top, or maybe with a green tarp as was the case with one of their Jagdtigers in 1/72?
I won't buy it! |
