Re: New 1:35 Panther from Dragon

Dragon are really expanding their 1/35 range. If only Minichamps would work a bit harder on new releases.

In my opinion Minichamps have got it right as regards timing of releases . They appear to follow a stable and systematic approach that doesn't risk 'flooding' the market and damaging the collector base (as well as interest) - collectors can actually look forward to new releases over an extended period of time (gratification deferred) .

Also, given that Minichamps are virtually all-metal makes them the #1 choice when compared with the virtually all-plastic Dragon 1/35 models. I honestly believe that Dragon are running the risk of collector 'burnout' with their 1/35 range, which has to some extent already occurred with their 1/72 range ... time will tell.

Re: New 1:35 Panther from Dragon

Dragon are really expanding their 1/35 range. If only Minichamps would work a bit harder on new releases.

Effective February 1st, Minichamps prices will go up 20%, which will make Dragons an absolute bargain in this scale.

Because this is military scale models forum, you guys seem to forget that 1:35 AFV line is very down the list in terms of priorities for Paul Lang company with 1:43, 1:18 car and 1:12 bike models being the bread and butter for the company.

Regards,

Sergey

Re: New 1:35 Panther from Dragon

I'm not sure about Dragon 1/35s being such a "bargain" compared to Minichamps, even if the latter go to higher prices.

Granted, I only have one Dragon in that scale (the first Ferdinand/Elephant), and to me, it's main problem is that particularly when sitting next to the Minichamps, it just looks like plastic (which it is). I don't mind plastic as such, but I don't like when the look is too obvious. Minichamps are far from perfect, but man, you can see (and feel) all that metal. That's a big factor for me.

However, it's just personal preference and would perfectly understand someone liking the Dragon offerings more than Minichamps.

I do think that $80 is a lot to ask for what they offer. The only reason I bought the Ferdinand is because Minichamps doesn't make it, and is unlikely to in the near future (plus, I did not have one in 1/50 or 1/48 which is my preferred tank scale).
