| my first 1/35 tank I just received my very first 1/35 scale #122 Tiger tank (61003) and am so impressed that I'll be switching my main collecting focus from airplanes to tanks and in this particular scale. Simply amazing detail and I really like the presentation also. I ordered this one from the monkeydepot for $38 + shippping. How can you go wrong? *If there's a dealer on this site who can offer me some others for a discounted price, send me a PM. Thanks | |||||||||||||

| Re: my first 1/35 tank $38.00? That seems like a good deal. Here they cost as much as $80.00 per piece. Sucks eh. That makes me decide to collect Minichamps instead which are sold at $100.00 per piece and I'm getting heavy metal content, working suspension, rotating wheels and fully metal tracks. | |||||||||||||

| Re: my first 1/35 tank
That winter camo, initial production 1:35 Dragon Tiger for $37.95 at the Monkey Depot was one of my 2007 die cast buys of the year. They had it at that price for months and still had some on New Years Eve. Unfortunately, they are now out stock and we're not likely to see them again at that price.

| Re: my first 1/35 tank That winter Tiger eh? I bought it for $80.00 and eventually gave it to my cousin... It's a nice model overall I didn't like the paint chipping very much. The paint chipping looks very nice from a distant but viewed up close...don't know maybe it's just me. Anyway for $80.00 I felt like I had been robbed considering everything is made of plastic. Greedy dealer?? | |||||||||||||

I don't know about your market, but in the U.S. Dragon 1:35 AFV's usually sell between about $60 and $80 (depending on the dealer and the model), unless you can find a sale or special.

| Re: my first 1/35 tank Hey KG Dragon 1/35 lines are mostly made of plastic..I'd rather spend another extra 20 to buy real die cast like Minichamps which rolls.... $80.00 is too much for static plastic models even at 1/35. I didn't know some dealers in your country were selling Dragon 1/35 at $80 too..... | |||||||||||||

| Re: my first 1/35 tank I know there are many heft lovers out there. However: 1) Dragon models are awsome scale models that look just like the real thing (yes, some have errors...), while Minichamps for all their metal simply cannot compare from an accuracy standpoint - if you don't believe me, just place a Dragon and a Minichamps Tiger side by side, and see for yourselves. Now take a picture against a real landscape, and you'll see a real tank (Dragon) and a toy (MC). 2) Have you ever heard of "zinc pest"? Visit the "Diecast central" forum (about diecast cars) or look elsewhere... Some very expensive model cars are literally falling to pieces and becoming merely dust because of a "disease" of diecast metal... It seemingly affects larger (1/24, 1/18) scales more commonly, and develops over a few years... I wonder whether any of you has already witnessed this sort of thing in his/her diecast tanks and airplanes? | |||||||||||||

| Re: my first 1/35 tank While I have never seen any MC tanks in person, I saw many reference photo's and just cant seem to take the plunge. I'm not sure how long MC been in the game, but their selection is very limited and the only place that I can find some (besides e-bay once in a while) is motorpool which is in a league of it's own in regards to pricing. I also cant get past the "factory-fresh" finish and those shiny tracks really take it up a notch. While $80 is a little steep, I think it's a more than fair alternative to it's more expensive sparkling brother. | |||||||||||||

| Re: my first 1/35 tank
Das Boot, Minichamps armour have to be seen in person to be truly appreciated - photos don't do them justice. If you can find one at a bargain/fair price, I doubt that you'll be disappointed. Yes, the Dragon range may look more realistic but there's just something about the MC tanks that put them in a superior class all of their own ... (they are to armour what GMP is to aircraft)

| Re: my first 1/35 tank I like both, but if push comes to shove--Minichamps is my first choice. When it comes to AFV's in this scale, there is nothing that beats quality melded in real metal. At least for those of us in the U.S. there are many more vendor choices (at least four I can think of off the top of my head) on the web for buying Minichamps other than "the XXXpool", which lost all of my business years ago. | |||||||||||||
