| Re: my first 1/35 tank The Flying Mule is running a $49.99 special on the : Dragon Armor 61003 Tiger Tank Diecast Model German Army s.Pz.Abt.502, #122, Eastern Front
This is the same tank discussed at the beginning of this thread. Although $12 more than the Monkey Depot had it priced until they sold out in the last couple of weeks or so, it's still a good deal.

| Re: my first 1/35 tank anyone who said Minichamps tank does not have good quality must have never seen in person. I have 8 of them, it's like a pre-built Tamiya 1:35 tank without weathering and a heck of metal. You can think it's like a tank fresh out of the factory and you might not be that bothered by no weathering. IMO, Leopard II, King tiger, panther, T-72, they are fantastic and Centurion look awesome in pictures. I hate people said it's toy like, it's just nonsense because they are like professionally built tank model in metal! | ||||||||||||||

| Re: my first 1/35 tank
Hi dasboot, just saw your thread. I'm a recent convert to 1/35 pre-built armour as well. I received a Dragon 1/35 Tiger I (#61019) as a gift not too long ago and boy was I impressed. To me, the strength of Dragon's 1/35 stuff lies in the weathering and finishing touches, which makes them look very realistic...almost like the real thing...and the weathering is not overdone. The fact that it is made out of plastic does not bother me so much though I can understand why some forummers place a heavy emphasis on heft, which is why Minichamps appeal to them. Minichamps other strength is that it appeals to collectors who like their tanks to have a pristine look. Ultimately, it is a question of taste. For me, I collect both Dragon and Minichamps, though IMHO, I think that Dragon's 1/35 range, and Tamiya's 1/48mm collection and 1/35th Masterworks series are the best available in the current market. By the way, since you like Dragon 1/35, are you into Tamiya pre-built armour? I recently got hold of a couple of Tigers in 1/48 scale and an M1A2 Abrams in 1/35 scale. Very awesome. | Re: my first 1/35 tank
Not yet. I did see the tamiya tigers on the motorpool but really dont want to take the plunge and purchase from them nor switch to another scale altogether. I just picked up a elefant from the depot for $40. I'm going to look for the cyberhobby tiger next and maybe some more of the limited edition 1/72 scale models. I agree with your assessment on the dragon and minichamps tanks. Personally like you I dont care about heft as I'm not going to be playing with them.

| Re: my first 1/35 tank
but...but...heft is something you can sense, just by looking at a model. You can feel it. You often see it too, as the finish on the metal Minichamps tanks certainly looks different than plastic. Plastic doesn't seem to have as much of a shine to it. The Minichamps Centurian is awesome in that regard, my favorite of the three I have, Leo and T-72 being the others.

| Re: my first 1/35 tank I'm still waiting for the T-72 to hit my local store. Been tempted to buy car models these days. Luckily when I got out to pick up the BBR Enzo Ferrari both pieces had been bought so they were all gone. Hics hiks hiks. Where is my T-72? I already have the Centurion. The T-72 must have sold very very well abroad so we have none supplied to the local store. | ||||||||||||||

Well, well....If you happen to make the short trip to Singapore for whatever reason, you can pick up a Minichamps T-72 from Nikko Asia Toys at Millennia Walk. It's been sitting on the shop shelf for months.
