| DR60009 Panther G, #IN3, PzRgt 15, 11 Pz Div, Southern France, 1944 I'm quite new here on the forum, though I've been a Dragon Armor collector for quite a long time. The question that I have is about the origin of the DR60009 Panther G, Dragon says it is belonging to 11 Pz Div but I've seen pictures in books and articles that tells something different. I've studied different sources and many of them tells about that this Panther actually belonged to the Panzergrenadier Division Grossdeutschland. In the different pictures I've also noticed that the #IN3 is covered with zimmerit. According to the sources the picture was taken on the 12th of August 1944. I'm a bit confused about it! What is correct in this case? What unit (division and regiment) did it belong to? Can anyone please help me with this question? | |||||||||||||

| Re: DR60009 Panther G, #IN3, PzRgt 15, 11 Pz Div, Southern France, 1944 Hello, Sdkfz181; welcome in this forum! I've sadly become a disabled source - I'm moving house these days, and my books (now sadly packed in boxes) won't be available for quite some time, I'm afraid. I never researched IN3, so I don't know. If you just could upload some photos of the real IN3 Panther then I might try to compare these to the info available on the Internet or a few pdf's in my computer. As this is an early "G", it sure had a coat of zimmerit, which is consistent with the date the tank was photographed according to your sources (zimmerit was discontinued in September 1944). Unfortunately, Dragon applies zimmerit according to some random criterion of theirs, not historical accuracy; some models have zimmerit, which never had it in real life, and vice versa. | |||||||||||||
