Dragon Armor rumors

I heard someone say they had been talking to the Dragon Armor UK distributor the other day and were told Dragon was going to rerelease all their past early Dragon Armor tanks due to demand. Don't know how accurate this info is, but if true would be great news for those that never got the really early releases and don't want to spend an arm and leg for one off Ebay.

Going off how Dragon tries to get the most they can out of anything they make (Tigers released over and over again), this would not surprise me.

Re: Dragon Armor rumors

I see your dilemma and as a friend I would be willing to take these off your hands at a 50% premium over the current Dragon new release MSRP. No, no, please don't thank me profusely. It has always been my dream to open a home for aging diecast models and this gives me a chance to open my heart to a few of them. My digs aren't much I promise I will love and respect them. Send me the ones you feel are about to be debased (or devalued, whatever) and I'll start prepping the shelves.

Makes you wonder how owners of the Donald Duck Spit or the Aussie Mossie would feel if Corgi re-released these models. And their Lancasters. And other impossible-to-find warbirds.

Wonderful news, huh? Terrific news! Yeah ... just think: Collectors who plowed piles of money into Corgi would rejoice that all their hard-earned cash went for naught. That owning a “rare” Corgi model was now meaningless. That value had just circled the toilet bowl.

Yeah ... that’s the ticket!

And I suggest that if Dragon re-releases their first-issue tanks, a bunch of loyal Dragon Armor aficionados will quit them for good. And I’ll be one of them.

Re: Dragon Armor rumors

I think the key to this thread is the word 'rumors' [sic].

I pretty much doubt that Dragon will do this and suspect it's more likely the musings of a retailer who may not be as well informed as they think they are (or who are merely engaging in idle speculation). Either way, I don't see it as a major problem as to the best of my knowledge Dragon never implied that their products were 'limited edition' items and if a 're-release' strategy brought more collectors to the hobby, then we'll all most likely benefit (see the big picture folks, a happy Dragon may be a more productive and innovative Dragon ).

Essentially, I've never collected Dragon Armor for the investment potential which I believe is negligible at best and non-existent at worst - you're collecting representations of history (engineering and military) and that should be enough to satisfy the inner cravings of your diecast collecting soul .

Hworth, there's no reason to be proud of what is clearly a serious and uncharacteristic lapse of good judgement on your part .

Sorry Card,
But I like to think I have pretty good judgment "some" of the time..

Typical Dragon though... What else would you expect from a company that floods the diecast/hobby market with everything they can so that their product is worthless??? If this is true, I am just surprised they didn't do it sooner..

Sorry Hworth, we'll have to agree to disagree.

Dragon has done a lot for this hobby, perhaps even as much as Corgi in many respects. Of course they have made mistakes, as have others, including the much vaunted Gemini Aces who are definitely not as perfect as the hype would often suggest (good yes, perfect no).

Re: Dragon Armor rumors

Excuse-me but it seems that a lot of people here believes that their "investiment" in purchasing small plastic/metal tanks is worth something else than you own satisfaction of having it?

If I want to invest in something valuable, it would be gold, jewels..neves model kits... Tsc Tsc
