Re: Dragon Armor rumors

I’m with the crowd who gets satisfaction from the model itself regardless of its collectability. I buy Dragon Armor because I like the armor, not because I enjoy displaying something valuable...If that were the case I’d just stack money on my shelves. I’ve collected things in the past with an investment conscious approach and found little fun in it. I’m in diecast now for the pure enjoyment value, which is more important to me than monetary value. With Dragon Armor, or armor from any other company, I never plan on making any sort of return once I bring them home. I don’t purchase an investment in a little box, just a little tank that I like enough to spent the money on. Displaying the armor is the payoff for me.

I guess my buying philosophy is: If it looks good I'll buy it, if it’s “highly collectable” but looks shoddy I'll leave it alone. I’ll always choose realism and detail over weight and rarity.

Great posts PickMattock & FVD - before long the naysayers will be in full retreat and rushing headlong towards their nearest stockists of Dragon Armor ...

Re: Dragon Armor rumors

I must admit that I am trying to make money on the 1st Dragon 60001 Wittmann that I have but only in order to put back into some more armor.

Re: Dragon Armor rumors

Let’s see ...

If I read most of these posts correctly, the idea of collecting and enjoying diecast models for their collectability value, aside from just loving models for their own sake, is pure nonsense.

Hey, no problem ...

Then for you guys who collect rare baseball cards, or rare coins, or stamps – or anything else that smacks of rarity and uniqueness and investment ... hang your heads in shame. You’re dolts, ‘cause anybody who collects anything for any other reason than just likin’ what they collect are chumps. Value be damned.

Yeah, I can see your point.

Yeah, I can see your point.

I think you're worrying too much about other peoples personal opinions. Everyone has one, no side is more right because the hobby is what it is to each person. I think PickMattock summed it up pefectly with my view;
If it looks good I'll buy it

. I buy my Dragon Armor, throw the box in the trash and keep the plastic display case only because I know I can sell them for $1 each. The same with Cyber Hobby Dragon Armor, packaging goes in the trash, keep the display case to sell and the numbered card of authenticity is usually trashed as well if no one else wants it. Am I the only one that does this...no way. Does it bother me that there are people that care about the packaging, rarity, uniqueness, etc....not one bit. I have my own life to live, why worry about what others do.

Everybody has their own reasons for collecting, some for value, some for love and some for both.. But the idea is that everyone has their own reasons for collecting and any one reason shouldn't be condemned..

What irks me is this approach of trashing something without any supporting evidence whatsoever - little wonder that some companies don't want a presence on forums such as this .

MoMo, you should weigh in with your opinion as we need some additional fire-support - our position is being overrun by barbarians who lack appreciation for the finer points of Dragon Armor ...

I have had plenty of experience in Dragon Armor as I had collected them from day one ( I bought 3 of the 60001 Wittmann Tigers when they first came out).. I had an extensive collection until it got to the point that I just couldn't collect them all because Dragon was flooding the market with release after release.. If you are happy with them, GREAT, I am happy for you, they are just NOT my cup of tea anymore..
Good luck with your collection, I wish you the best..

Re: Dragon Armor rumors

Everybody has their own reasons for collecting and I never said anything of the sort..

Not sure why you're taking this personally, Harry. I said "most," not all posts. The fact is, nearly everyone who responded to my viewpoint disagreed. Which is their prerogative, of course, and I respect their right to feel and say anything they wish. I just hope they respect my right to feel and say what I wish, too.

Legio, I’m probably no different than most other members on this esteemed forum. Some opinions I value highly; some opinions I don’t, and others I couldn’t care less about. Might sound crass, but it’s true.

I don’t automatically dismiss somebody’s opinion just because they disagree with me, even if they are sometimes disagreeable. In fact, if their argument is well reasoned and skillfully written (which is a treat in itself), I give them the benefit of the doubt. Mostly.

Hope I haven’t singed anybody’s feathers expressing my viewpoint, but like you, I have opinions, too.

No ruffled feathers here Gort, I respect everyones opinion. I haven't seen this much action in the Ground Vehicle Models section for some time.
