Re: New 1/35 announcement: King Tiger

On the Tiger it seems like the only metal is the box thing around which it's built. Nothing you actually touch when holding it is metal.

That stated, I have the gray and white one and it is impressive on display until you lift it. Not worth more than $35-$40 though in my view. I like the little ones for $12-$15 better

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

Re: New 1/35 announcement: King Tiger

I also have the grey and white Tiger I. I paid $41.00 for it. That was still a little high. It is on sale at a webstore for ca. $37.95. These Dragon 1/35 tanks come out listed at ca. $89.99. Highway robberry for an all plastic model. This line is very nice, but way over priced. IMHO

Thumbs up Re: New 1/35 announcement: King Tiger

Thanks for your insights gents! I'll stick to the little ones and go after the Minichamps I have the bucks to blow.

Re: New 1/35 announcement: King Tiger

In all fairness the Dragon 1/35 armour range is very good although more metal would have made them perfect . I would choose a MiniChamps piece over the Dragon for the metal content alone, but as far as realism and detailing the Dragon can't be beat. Remember that these don't cost much more than the equivalent plastic kits and they are made far better than most of could accomplish even if we had the time.

Re: New 1/35 announcement: King Tiger

If the asking price is $35-40, that really isn't that bad. The kit itself runs about that un-asssembled. I'd only buy this one because I cannot replicate the zimmeritt coating. But I prefer to build and paint them myself, and I'm not a big fan of the highlights Dragon uses on thier finished models. Its not metal, but who drives them around the living room anyways?

Re: New 1/35 announcement: King Tiger

I purchased the #142 (initial production) Tunisa Tiger 1(the one above). Got no complaints other than it’s a little delicate around the turret. In fact, I busted off a pin on the loader’s hatch with little more than a gentle nudge. Ticked me off.

Otherwise, she’s a hyper-realistic replica of a monumental murderous monster tank. And I like it loads.

By the way, Dragon Can.Do produces 1/35 Tiger Aces figures ( Michael Wittmann among them) that look stunning posed beside (or on top of) this behemoth. (The “Kurt” commander is the hardest to find. Downright impossible, actually.)

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Re: New 1/35 announcement: King Tiger

I have the DAK Tiger as well and in my opinion it looks great. I'm skipped buying the CH one and the grey and white camo one, but am thiking of purchasing the Wittmann.
