Three Unique Shermans

I am really impressed with the new Dragon Shermans, esp, M4A4, numbers 60278 and 60284. The M4A4 has a turret machine gun adjacent to the main gun, which is unique and visually appealing to me. These also have the "rugged" Sherman look, that I like. Also, I like the upcoming M4A3E8, number 60297. I like this one because it has dual exterior machine guns. Concerning tanks, I'm wondering why none of the Dragon Tiger I tanks have exterior machine guns. If you've ever seen any of the prototypes for the CDC Tigers, which were never produced, all of them had turret machine guns. I've always wondered why Dragon never produced a Tiger with a machine gun? But, these Shermans are very nice. I plan to eventually get all three.

Yep, I’ve gotta agree, Cop. Dragon’s outdoing themselves with the Sherman. Makes me sick, too, ‘cause now I'll have to shell out all kinds of dough to keep up with this stuff!

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Re: Three Unique Shermans

I have a bunch of books on the Tiger and have only come across one or two actual photos of the machine gun mounted on the cupola. On the Tigers, their main use was for anti-air defense and rarely, if ever, used against infantry.

Thumbs up Re: Three Unique Shermans

The m4a3e8 Thunderbolt sherman tank is the coolist sherman I have seen in some time. I can't wait to own it and the polish one as well. Dragon is doing a good job on the sherman tanks, I would like to see a diorama of one with a tiger or panther that would be cool. It would be neet to see a Russian version as well.

I just ordered the Thunderbolt Sherman at MD. This one promises to be good!

Re: Three Unique Shermans

I also like Dragon Shermans very much, they're excellent models in all respects.

However, they made a serious, though somewhat funny, blunder with their French M4A4 (Sherman V). The tank bears the name "St. Quentin" (a town in Northern France where a battle was fought between the French and Spanish armies back in 1557), and the initial "S" in "St." is particularly big and placed by the French insignia, just like this - "#St. Quentin". The name is readable on the left side of the tank, but it goes like "t. Quentin S#" on the right side. Someone thought that the "S" in "St." was in fact a part of the insignia, and that the tank's name was "t. Quentin"!!

A few days ago I ordered their recent M4A3(105) model depicting a 6th Armored Division (15th Tank Bn??) tank photographed at Troisvierges, Northern Luxembourg, in January 1945. And an "easy eight" is just round the corner now!!
