Dragon Armor announcements for July 2007

Hello. In the usual place ( http://www.dragonmodelsusa.com/dmlus...asp?tlcode=DRR ) two new 1/72 models are announced, one more Sherman (DRR 60293, “Elowee” Sherman M4A1(76)W, U.S. 2nd Armored Division, France 1944) and - who would have guessed it - another "hybrid" Tiger I (DRR 60290, Tiger-Gruppe Fehrmann, Germany 1945), this time at least with a new paint scheme.

Re: Dragon Armor announcements for July 2007

Here is one of about 120 Shermans to come from Dragon in the future. Next we will see the color scheme from the movie "TANK" from back in the 1980's. The hybrid Tiger looks ok though.

Dragon OD'd on Tigers. Think they’ll ever figure out that the rest of the diecast world wants Panthers and Jadgpanthers?

I see that happening even worse with the Shermans!

If Dragon would release Oddballs Sherman from the movie Kelly's Heroes, I wouldn't care how many Shermans they brought out.

That would really be nice, and they could do the fake Tiger, too. It would be a *real* hybrid - according to Wikipedia it was in fact a converted T-34.

Re: Dragon Armor announcements for July 2007

Interesting that they went with a gray basecoat with green and brown cammo for the Fehrman Tiger. Most sources say they used green or tan basecoats until the bitter end, though there apparently is some mention in documents of primer basecoat or gray basecoat if no other paint was available. I don't like it. Skip this one.

As for the sherman, well, you can't have too many t-34s or shermans. After all with all my Dragon Tigers, I need something like 4 shermans per Tiger, right?

Re: Dragon Armor announcements for July 2007

The Fehrmann Tigers were early Tigers upgraded with steel wheels and Zimmerit and most pics show a heavily worn Zimmerit coat with bright camo OVER the grey base so this is really odd. No, thanks.

Yes, I guess your right tankguy! I do like the Shermans and have all but one of Dragon's so far. I like the "winter white" camo and I believe it is "Yellow 15" or something like that.

Re: Dragon Armor announcements for July 2007

Elowee’s got me excited…I hope we also get Pool’s “In the Mood” at some point. I can never have too many Shermans, especially after waiting so long for Dragon to get on the ball. I actually wouldn’t mind more schemes on molds we already have. Take their M4A3(76)…I could use one in white wash and another in the classic OD/white stars scheme, maybe Abram’s "Thunderbolt IV"? Maybe they’ll release those later with extended end connectors? Once they get all the major variants out there, they can add things like different track types (and bills), hedgerow devices, wading trunks, muzzle brakes, dozer blades, appliqué armor/sand bags, rocket launchers…They wish they could get that kind of mileage out of their Tigers!
