Hey ZS VAN,

Is this the one you were talking about? It is model DRR60283 and due out in May.

Thanks

Re: New 105mm Sherman

If you collect 1/72 armor, you owe it to yourself to try to pick up a few selections from the Matchbox/CDC armor. I have over 40 of the CDC tanks, as well as 1 of each of the Matchbox armor reissues. Matchbox purchased the moulds from CDC, then produced selected models. These are very well made and metal. I also have about 40 of the Dragon tanks. Dragon is more detailed because of the use of plastic. However, do not think that the CDC and Matchbox tanks are that much "below" Dragon. Also, remember, that CDC quit producing armor ca. 1998, so, they are a rare find. Matchbox picked up some of the line and reintroduced them in a box, and then in a diorama setting. Ebay has one of the CDC Shermans available. Believe me, it would be worth bidding on one of these. Also, the Flying Mule has the last two Shermans issued by Matchbox for $29.99 each. These are unique because they are not exact reissues from CDC, like their first tanks were. Like I said, Dragon is more detailed, but if you are an avid collector of 1/72 tanks, you need to have a Matchbox, and or, CDC tank in your collection. When I purchased my CDC tanks, I paid an average of ca. $20.00 for each of them. They initially sold for $24.95. Then when they quit producing them I bought them for as low as ca. $15.00 and as high as ca. $35.00. The PZIVs are fabulous, esp. the ones with the mesh side skirts. The Panthers go for $75.00 - $200.00. Once in awhile ebay will list a Sherman or PZIV. It is hard to find the Panthers. The CDC/Matchbox tanks are well worth the effort. Remember, they do not make these anymore. Now, I purchase Dragon 1/72 almost exclusively, but am very interested inn seeing Hobby Master's 1/72 line.

Re: New 105mm Sherman

My big question is this. Will these be coming out at Dragon's new $24.95 price point?

Anything for a weird life.

Right on the button mate! I think it looks cool, much better than the other one. FYI, I've posted some pics of Shermans here: http://forum.themodelhangar.com/show...8225#post38225

Re: New 105mm Sherman

This Sherman, 60283, is a definite purchase for me. The other winter camo Sherman is not that appealing - IMHO. Is the $24.95 price going to be the standard for all new Dragon issues? So, with shipping we will pay from $25.00 - $30.00 per tank( I'm basing that on pre-order price of $19.99, plus, $5.00 - $10.00 for shipping). Wow. I have two of the MRC tanks. Although they are all plastic, and very light, the detail is very good. I really do not want to leave Dragon, but....Hmm?

Re: New 105mm Sherman

Where did this $24.95 come from? I've yet to see that as a standard price, at least where I buy from. I did see a price hike with the latest release (German halftrack riveted), but that's still under $20.

Re: New 105mm Sherman

I just got my 105mm Sherman (60282) today in the mail. It's beautiful, but I noticed something odd. The model seems to have a tiny hole in the turret in the front left corner of the top of the turret. I can't find a good picture of the model at that angle to show whether the hole is supposed to be there or not.

So does anyone else have this model and have noticed a hole in the turret? Is the hole really supposed to be there? Is it something with the mold or did the real 105mm Sherman have it? Was it a convenient hole for the Germans to drop grenades into?

I have both the 60282 and the 60283 and they both have that little hole.

I am looking at my Tanks In Detail, Medium Tank M4 (76 mm & 105 mm) book and sure enough, in several photos that look straight down on the turret, does show what looks like that hole. Though, not all of the turrets appear to have that hole.

I checked a couple other books, and there are pictures of some of the Sherman with the hole, though didn't find out what it is. Also, it's not in all turrets.
