Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

Momo, this store where you bought the CH Ferdinands. Does it have a website? I'd love to get my hands on both of these.

Yes, I want both of these as well and that would finish off my Ferdinands/Elefants.

Dear Dirty Ace, the shop where i got the Ferdinands had three sets of them. Some guy got a pair yesterday morning, I bought the next pair and the guy behind the counter bought the last two when i explained to him that many people would be interested in aquiring them.

To answer your question, the shop is called " Static" and is a Wargammers' store. It is really an offshoot of a much bigger store nearby which trades under the name of " A1Comics.com" which seems to be a website name in itself!

Rather than go through this site, only to discover that they are all gone ( I don't know if they'll get in any more! ) why don't you find out if you can register an advanced order with toybox who say that they should have them in the store in a couple of weeks. They're also listed cheaper at toybox, so I'd take advantage of that. I bought the Ferdinands at Static because they were there, I could examine them, and I knew that if I waited on toybox, I would have to pay postage anyway. As you have to purchase by mail-order, toybox seems to be the best bet for you.

For you too, Mikeb1958, this seems to be the best avenue to aquisition.

The web address for toybox is posted a few posts back in the thread.

The great advantage of buying models from the shop is in the 'being there'. It means that you can examine and compare the stock to get the best paint job, check the track alignment, check the box and generally compare models to make sure that you get the optimum best of the bunch.

In days of yore when CDC existed, I would spend about 10 minutes comparing models in Beatties Toy Shop ( which no longer exists ). The guys behind the counter would think that I was a bit crazy because I'm short-sighted and can see minute detail from an inch away from any object, but I didn't care because I got the best of the bunch.

Hope all this rambling helps you.

cheers,

MoMo

MOMO, your collection must be awesome. Not like mine, one dimensional. PLANES AND MORE PLANES.I need your expertise to assist in procuring a Warrior. My nephew commanded one of those in 'Desert Storm'. Don't have the actual model number of the real thing on hand.(buried in a thousand notes somewhere) Is there a Diecast of this armoured troop carrier anywhere to be had?. Appreciate any information that may lead to a successful purchase of this model.

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

Hi, Swoop

The only Warrior infantry vehicles I know of in ready-built, ready-painted model form are those produced by Dragon in their Can.Do series - these are to 1/144th scale (intended for wargames), but are very good, charming reproductions of the real thing. One of them is a Desert Storm version.

Swoop

Dear Swoop, the only Warrior which I know of is this casting in pewter which was made for soldiers who wished to purchase a copy of the vehicle which they serve on.

It is a heavy casting, and I know that postage is about £ 10 in the UK.

There is one on ebay, as I write. It is a UK dealer and the starting price is £25.00. You can find it by doing a search on : " Warrior Armoured Vehicle Diecast "....that will get you there. It is listed as closing in about 2 hours, 45 minutes from this post.

If you miss it, don't worry. They are on ebay regularly ( probably with the same dealer ) Just post a favourite search on ebay, and they'll alert you when one surfaces.

Good Luck,

MoMo

Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle made of Pewter, very highly detailed and also very heavy.

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

I tried to get some more new Dragons this weekend, but was, without success.

I did come across the new FOV 262, and couldn't resist it. A true diecast, it is a fine looking representation of the real thing.

I also bought another Easy Models tank. I couldn't resist this captured version because it's in my favourite camo scheme. Nice, huh? Wonder if Dragon will come forth with its own version?

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

That KV is a real beauty. I'm lovin the german cupola.

Wasn't one of these used by the germans at the end around Berlin or some panzer factory or somesuch? Nice piece for a '45 scenario...
