Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

The Bergpanzer lV which serviced the giant mortars like Ziu, etc is made in kit form ( 1.72 ) by Hasegawa. You can only get it with the Mortar kit. It's a pretty crude kit though.

Well MoMo, it's your civic duty to put it in its place and help it understand that vulgarity from a kitset is just not appropriate and reflects badly on other kitsets that are less crude ...

EUREKA ,i have found my holy grail,60360 with no track faults,i cant believe it,and what a nice model to boot, had to pay £16.99 tho and that was disheartening, perhaps time will heal the very large hole in my wallet,DRAGON,certainly wont im sure.PS i found 60094 from cyber hobby on the shelf,i was always under the illusion that CB models were not available in the high street ??? has anyone else seen a cyber hobby in shops ? .What a great model it looked too ,pity both tracks were faulty,( what a surprise ),i will endeavor,to obtain 60094 elsewhere,it will be an excellent addition to my collection.

No new Dragons to report. However, my favourite shop just received a shipment of HM and Admiral so I got the Admiral Panzer lll Ausf L named " Afrika Korps ". It's quite a nice model, and representative of the real thing.

However, being a mix of metal ( a lot ) and small plastic bits it is noticeable that the paint finish varies between the two types of surface. The lack of weathering is annoying, making the model more than a little toy-like. I'm happy to put up with this because the Admiral represents the last, true metal die-cast tank in 1.72 as HM moves towards the realm of plastic.

The HMs which had arrived were :

  • Pershing " B Co. Ist Tank Bttn, U.S. Marines, Sept 1950, Inchon " Cute, but why the shiny finish on the road wheels, drive and return?

  • Pershing " 67th Armoured Rgt, 2nd Armoured Div., April 1947, Germany " A lovely model. No shiny wheels!

  • MY FAVOURITE : The Centurion " Mk 6, British Army. An excellent representation of the Centurion at this stage in its development. This model looks the business. Even a Tiger would bottle it if it came to a fantasy show-down, and we could fiddle with the gears of history. I like the simple way the tracks are painted in contrast to the tank's overall green paint scheme.
So, no new Dragons....but some on the horizon. HM seem to be stealing their thunder while pocketing our money.

M 10s are rare on the ground here !

Wake up, Dragon !

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

Hey, look ! It's a new 251 D. This one should be around in august :

1/72 Sd.Kfz.251/10 Ausf.D, Pz.Gren.Rgt.9 "Germania" 5.Pz.Div. "Wiking" Poland 1944

The Sd. Kfz. 251 halftrack was a highly successful design, with a bewildering array of variants produced during WWII. The 251/10, for example, was a halftrack equipped with a 3.7cm PaK 36 antitank gun. This small-caliber weapon designed by Rheinmetall first appeared in 1936, but by the time WWII broke out it was outdated and ineffective against more heavily armored enemy tanks. Thus, a number of these “door knockers” (as the gun was sometimes nicknamed by German troops) were mounted on the hull superstructure of some German halftracks to provide light and mobile anti-armor support.

This impressive new Sd.Kfz.251/10 Ausf.D has a fully detailed PaK 36 carefully fitted with its low-profile shield onto the halftrack. The open-topped model has a full interior, while externally it is painted in a camouflage scheme and bears tactical markings of the Pz.Gren.Rgt.9 "Germania" 5.Pz.Div. "Wiking" whilst fighing in Poland 1944. The chassis has been made in die-cast metal to give it a pleasing weight and robustness. Weathering has been carefully applied to such components as the body, wheel and etc. This finely detailed model with 3.7cm PaK will add extra firepower to any model collection!

( visors opened ! )

Yes enigma I have this model ( 60094 ). I bought it in a shop ( about £15 ). Toybox still have them for about £13. Dragon dumped a whole load of them in the UK with another, similar Ferdinand

For those of you who are unclear about which models are being discussed in the above posts on this thread :

This is the 60360
:

This is the Cyber Hobby 60094 :
This version is the special Cyber-Hobby edition from Dragon and is packaged in a special display tin with a Battle of Kursk commemorative sleeve.

ps note that the Germania Reg./ Viking Div. 251/10 D is another 251 with front visors opened! I forgot to mention that in the post.

I wish they would get on with it and produce some 'stummel' versions with the short 7.5cm gun, as well as a few more 'plain jane' 251/1's.

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

a few flame-throwing, infra-red, ambulance, etc., 251s to be made yet. Remember, tankguy, we have yet to see a prebuilt version of Dragon's two versions of their Stuka Zu Fuss kits ( which are excellent, but labour-intensive to build ! )

Meanwhile, for all you 1.35 fans, there is the new Pussycat posted on Dragon USA's site. It looks the bizz, but will it create the buzz?
