Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

If you're talking about the Pak 38 with crew pictured above, then yes they are for sure coming out...but as a 1/35 scale kit.

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

Yes, it's just my wish list for stuff which Dragon do well in 1.35 to be issued in 1.72 ! I'm sure that you all have that wish list too !

I don't mind it coming out in kit form, but lots of pre-builts would be nice too !

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

I'm not cracking, but some of the Dragon 1.35 scale offerings are too cool to resist ! I want one !

1/35 Panther G Late Production 1.Pz.Rgt.26 "Großdeutschland" France 1944
Dragon Armor has launched a new collectors edition item in the magnificently detailed scale of 1/35. Item No. 61024 portrays a Panther Ausf.G Late Production variant in a stunning camouflage scheme. Fully detailed from the characteristic sag of its track links to the provision of its full complement of on-vehicle tools, plus the level of detail on the camouflage scheme has to be seen to be believed! This collector piece exhibits astounding craftsmanship, all gloriously revealed in 1/35 scale.

The model represents a Panther Ausf.G of 1./Panzer Regiment 26, of the Großdeutschland (which translates as “Greater Germany”) Division. This division was an elite army formation and was equipped with the best German equipment available. While the division fought exclusively on the Eastern Front in the latter years of WWII, various units came and went. In June 1944 at the time of the Allied landings in Normandy, 1./Pz.Rgt .26 was based in France in order to train on Panthers. The unit’s Panthers were quickly thrown into the attack to stem the build up of Allied forces, and this is the time period depicted by this model. This latest addition to the Dragon Armor range lives up to the high standard set by its predecessors, and it will have collectors meowing with pleasure!

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

The Panther looks nice, but the story behind it sounds strange - dated June 1944 with 'chin mantlet' and without Zimmerit coating?

Sometimes I’m scared that I'll die with stuff in my pockets / and be buried with gold and with silver that I should have spent

Agree, plus I wasn't aware of anyGroßdeutschland units participating in repelling the Normandy landings.

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

I think that the Grossdeutschland's armour was meant to head for the beaches to repel an invasion. They were held back to counter a possible invasion on the Pas de Calais, assuming that the Normandy assault was a feint. When they got the whistle to head for the beaches, they were harried, held up, messed about and didn't quite make it.

Dragon stretches a point !
