Some more on the new Stug lll : it should arrive in the U.K. in feb.,2008. No markings, so it can be used as a generic unit and multiples can be deployed in dioramas and displays in order to build an effective-looking battery.

Cheers,

MoMo

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

A couple of nice, new subjects appear on the horizon. They should be with us, in the UK, sometime in february.

I like the look of the Ruskie Sherman 76. The .50 cal. MG mounting looks rough and ready, while the green finish looks battered and bruised, showing raw steel underneath.

The 1/35 scale Panther G appears to be a nice subject for Dragon to come up with. The camo scheme on this larger scale Panther ought to appeal to all of you who were waiting patiently for an acceptable Panther to appear. No fancy skirts, so all the work on the tracks an running gear is highly visible. From the pic, this Panther looks like a winner.

Talking Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

Now here's a little look into the future. Dragon are just introducing the following two kits, each of which contains a set of four German paratroops. This raises the question : will these fine looking 1/72 scale figures be available with a re-issue of the Henschel King Tiger in an Ardennes, 1944 camo scheme ?

Let's hope so. When the kits become available in the U.K., I think that I will probably get them. I think that I will be attracted more by the 1/72 scale figures, than the prospect of building two further King Tigers.

The figures appear to be based on the same ideas as the Preisser figures. They are, to a degree, multi-pose and all the equipment is to be modelled as separate items.

Let's hope Dragon go down this road with other kits, and that the kits become available as complete builds with figures. This is an exciting new possibility for collectors.

Part One :

Part Two :

Figure:
- Fully detailed figure set with vivid poses in 1/72 scale (New Tooled)
- Head, facial expression and clothes details carefully sculpted
- Weapons like Kar98k, G43, MP40, MP44 and MG42 all reproduced with exquisite detail in 1/72 scale
- Standard equipment like water bottles, canteens and pistol pouches realistically reproduced

Tank:
- Turret made from two-directional slide molds is finely detailed
- Upper and lower hulls made from two-directional slide molds
- Slide-molded muzzle brake possesses sharp detail
- Realistically detailed injection-molded tow cable
- DS tracks for ease of assembly
- Cartograf decal

“Braille scale” modelers have been delirious with delight at the release of Part 1 of Dragon’s 1/72 scale set of figures from the 3rd Fallschirmjäger Division accompanying a Kingtiger. These figures revolutionize the way 1/72 scale will be viewed, with a whole new dimension of detail opened up.

Dragon is proud to announce that Part 2 of the set is now available. This set also features four new and incredibly sculpted paratrooper figures that are again accompanied by a terrific 1/72 scale Kingtiger tank with Henschel turret. With this latest set, the complete scene of paratroopers loaded on the rear deck of a tank as depicted in a famous photograph during the Battle of the Bulge can now be recreated. However, these spectacularly modeled and engineered figures can be used in any scenario. Just imagine the dioramas that could be produced in this more compact and convenient scale! Perhaps a column of Kingtiger tanks loaded with “Green Devils” clanking along a snow-covered road in the Ardennes forest or on the Eastern Front. Dragon’s engineers have produced these multi-part figures that are every bit as complex and detailed as their 1/35 scale brethren. These figures, brimming with detail, are the ideal instrument for modelers to explore and exploit the 1/72 scale world of models and dioramas!

Cheers,

MoMo

These figures were already released prepainted in one of the limited edition Dragon Armor sets (DRR 60129).

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

Thanks for the intel, Legio LXXll. We didn't see many of the earlier Cyber versions on this side of the pond. Let's hope that Dragon re-release the K.T. and figures without the horrible base.

Cheers,

MoMo

That 10cm artillery piece looks like it would be a fun one to make. I really like the metal barrel, and detail of the model in general looks great.

Unhappy Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

Hi Guys,

I've spent the last few days trawling the hobby shops of Glasgow and Edinburgh to see if there were any new Dragons which had arrived. I'm also anxious to get my hands on the new HM diecasts when they arrive.

No luck. When I was in Edinburgh, one of the shop assistants told me that the Dragon Rep. had just been in, and that they were expecting a large shipment from Dragon to arrive at any time.

No sign of the HM models. It has to be this week or next.

That's the first time that I've ever gone to Edinburgh and bought nothing!

I almost bought a 1.48 scale CDC Armour Ju 52, because at half-price, they were a bargain. However, the madness passed when I thought of the lack of space, etc., etc.

Something's gotta arrive here soon !

Talking Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

I've just noticed that Easy models have brought out a bunch of K.T.s, and although this has nothing to do with Dragon, those of you with an interest in this AFV can see the whole range over at Jumblies.

I like the camo scheme and finish of this type although, as usual, there is no weathering to speak of so the road wheels look as clean as clean can be.

When I was in Edinburgh the other day, I noticed that Trumpeter, who make the kits from which Easy Models source their material, had sent a flier to the shop announcing their new kit of the German tank transporter group ( SdAh.116, or is it 106 ? )Tank Transporter + Famo heavy halftrack ). I didn't pick up on what scale it was, but I hope that it is in 1.72 so that it will turn up as an Easy model one day.

( pics from diecast 1.72 ....Thanks LegioLXXll! )
This group exists as a diecast which was given out as a premium if you subscribed to buy all the AFVs offered as a magazine subscription in many european countries. Spain was the main one. I can't remember the company name, but I'm pretty sure that LegioLXXll has one, so he'll remember. ( Altaya? )

( pic from Jumblies )

So let's hope that it appears one day !
