| Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K. That is cool. I like the smaller gun shield. The cammo pattern puts it as a late '42 vehicle. Very nice! | |||||||||||||

| Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K. Just when I thought that five Hanomags were enough, they go and release the one I really wanted to see (after the first 251/10 was released)! And yes, MoMo, that's a 37mm - they cut down the gunshield on later versions of the 251/10 to reduce the silhouette of the vehicle. Armor that thin was pointless by '43 anyways! | |||||||||||||

| Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K. Yep, the same 3.7cm pak 36 that was on the previous 251, only with the shield cut way down, to decrease the 'tracks visibility. Some crews even removed the shield altogether, but I think there would still be some value in keeping the lower portion of the shield as a defense against small arms fire - I sure would if I was the one manning that gun! Now I'm really looking forward now to the "stummel" version of the 251 with the short 7.5cm gun, not to mention the "pakwagon" version with the pak 40! Lots of neat versions of this chassis to come - I'm going to end up with a shelf just devoted to 251s! ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K. Thanks for the confirmation, Chairman Milo, I've seen versions of this type with and without the gun-shield, and yhis one intrigues. As I intimated in the previous posting, the pic. which I saw does better justice to the finish on this model, so I would recommend it to members who are aiming to collect all the 251 C and D variants. I love them all, and I've built a couple of them recently, though I have many more waiting in the boxes ready for the big day when I get round to building them. This is the curse of modellers! Most modellers have as many in the box as they have on display, built ! Try as I can, I still cannot emulate a finish as fine as Dragon's painters can do it. Thanks for the input Tankguy! I must admit that I'm also looking forward to the release in kit form of the desired Dragons. When we see the kits, we know that the release of ready-builts isn't too far away! Apart from the Stummel and the 75mm AT variants, I would like to see the ambulance version, the flame-thrower version and the Infra Red targeting version. That would make a nice trio! The 251/20 "Uhu" with searchlight would really be great, and a good chance for a Panther tank to go with it. More here: Nightfighting Panthers | ||||||||||||||

Dragon has gone 1.35 crazy ! According to toybox, the following cats are due to arrive on these shores very soon, if they ain't here, as I write ! These first two are due to appear right now. I'm tempted to go for the second model ( the King Tiger ) because I love the camo scheme! However, the first is very tempting too ! The question is, though, do I have the space to collect these 1.35 models ????? DR61019 TIGER I LATE PRODUCTION 1./Pz.Abt.505 NOWE KOSZARY 1944 ![]() DR61017 KING TIGER HENSCHEL TURRET W/ZIMMERIT 1./s.Pz.Abt.101, FRANCE 1944 ![]() This last cat looks very acceptable too. It is due to arrive here in january, 2008, and sports another very desirable camo scheme. If only we had endless empty shelves !!! | Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K. I think that Ziu is way cuter than Loki...what do you guys think ? She should be around in February,2008. I think that I may go for this one. I like the camo scheme because you can see details clearly. I think that it was hard to make out details on Loki, so I rejected it as too boring. I must be careful not to pick up the larger scale bug ! ( pic. from Flying Mule ) ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Hooray ! I bagged a Stug lll at the Treasure Bunker today. The second of the Stug llls has arrived in the UK and it's very nice indeed. One to go with all the other winter camo Dragons ( it's just a pity that it had to represent THAT particular SS Division ! ) Keep enjoying those holidays......we're off for a few days of R&R !
