Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

I think that I'll have to buy both models too.......but I doubt if I will buy the ' CAPTURED ' version, when it appears.

( unless it has an ambush camo scheme and five unique figures doing the camo-job! )

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

This one should be in the U.K. shops right now, or within the next few days. It is posted as expected to arrive in August, and there are only ten days till the end off August!
SOVIET T-34/76 Mod.1941 45th TANK REGIMENT, EASTERN FRONT 1943.
model no : DR60329
It looks to be a nice version of the 34/76, but is the slogan genuine, Berkut and chascbv ?

and I thought that I'd post a pic of the now " sold out ",
Sd.Kfz.171 PANTHER G (LATE) WESTERN FRONT
model no : DR60012
for some reason, this one got by me. I'll catch up later!

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

This Panther was out the first year Dragon Armor was available, notice the low product code 60012. It's one of my favorite Panthers they've released.

I'd post a pic of the now " sold out ",
Sd.Kfz.171 PANTHER G (LATE) WESTERN FRONT
model no : DR60012

I can't read it well, given the turret angle; however it looks like the slogan "For soviet Estonia..." seen in some T-34 sources. This is correct for this model, and was seen on the turrets (left side only, it seems) of T-34s funded by Estonian communist leaders and workers in 1941. Some sources claim the slogan was in red paint, but it looks like it was white to me.

M26 6X6 Dragon Wagon (by FoV)

I've just bought my first FoV 1/72 piece of armour - the M26 6X6 Dragon Wagon which will be used to transport my Dragon Armor Shermans ...

I personally think this is one of the best pieces from FoV (based on photos), but will give a more in-depth review (in the FoV thread) when I receive it.

Cardinal,

It's very impressive. I have it already and do think it's one of FOV's best releases to date in 1/72 scale.

The only thing I could read is "For Soviet.." Also, at this point of the war, T-34/76 mod.1941 were mostly encountered in the North Western Russia and were extensively modified by addition of applique armor plates, German optics suite, as well as commanders' cupolas taken from captured Panzer-IIIs and Panzer-IVs.

Regards,

Sergey

thanks for the intel, chascbv. It's very helpful to get a bit of ther history and an overview of the accuracy.

Yes, Legio, I missed that Panther when it appeared because I was concentrating on hunting down unwanted CDCs while they were still cheap and available. Now that the early Dragon Panthers are getting thinner on the ground, I'll be hunting for them !

Thanks for the additional intel Sergey. That's interesting about the improvements made to the Russian tanks by using the captured German optics and the cupolas.

Wow! Lots of people seem to be bagging Dragon Wagons! I'll see if my usual haunts have had any come in over the last 10 days!

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

Well,

as I posted on the FOV thread, I bagged the Dragon Wagon ( see there for review ).

I took a trip over to Edinburgh yesterday and, of course, visited my favourite shop, Wonderland Models, so that I could see all the new Dragons. Ouch ! There were none !

The shop, I was informed, was undergoing some rearranging in its display of Dragons, HMs and Easy Models. Also, they are rebuilding their web site so that it can be updated on a daily basis in order to facilitate the sale of goods on line.

I was deeply disappointed that the only new Dragon which I could find was a T34 ( the one that looks as if it has had white paint spilled over it ! )
I may get one at some time in the near future, but I'll think about it for now.

Dragons are going up in price, and I have to think twice now about picking up models on a casual basis. Do I buy it because its the only new model available this week, or do I wait and save ny pennies for the models which should be arriving soon ?

So, on this side of the pond we're awaiting the arrival of the 251s with 37mm AT and 28mm AT protection.

I did buy some more Preiser panzer grenadiers to paint during the winter. They will populate all those Dragon 251s which I plan to build at the same time!

I also bought one set of the Pegasus sandbags which I reviewed several posts ago. I got the curved set because it was the last and only one available ! Hobson's Choice !

I was informed that these sets have become popular with wargamers, but that also they were being bought by Dragon collectors who wanted to display tanks and other vehicles alongside a good-looking model which looked as if it was affording some protection to the AFVs.

Re: Today's Dragons in the U.K.

These two are slated to arrive in the USA sometime in November. They have not been posted yet on UK sites like
' toybox ', etc. I guess we'll just have to wait!

I like the British Sherman, but I think that I'll pass on the jagdtiger.

DRR60310 1/72 Sherman M4A2 Mk.III 'A' Squadron, Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry 1943

and :DRR60264 1/72 Jagdtiger Porsche Version w/ Zimmerit, sPzJgAbt 653, Alsace 1945
