Jagdtiger mystery #60127 (Version B) contd.

Since the 'interruption' of the previous thread dealing with the Jagdtiger (Version B) that I acquired at a local retailer, I thought I would once again open this discussion to try and find any leads as to whether it is a prototype that accidently found its way onto a shop shelf, or whether it was returned to the store after being modified by a customer (unlikely, but possible) .

As I mentioned previously it is a fine piece of Dragon Armor and deserves its 10 seconds of fame .

Did you ask the retailer that you bought it from? Its very strange...

I tend to agree - it is the best looking Dragon Jagdtiger that I've seen thus far .

Its origins (prototype or otherwise) still elude me though as there is no trace of this particular version of the model anywhere where I've looked .

(In our previous discussion on MH I, Hworth18 mentioned that it may have been a prototype that accidently found its way onto the shelves, which would make it one of those rare and lucky finds! )

(Anyone have any info. on the 'inverted' Trident unit symbol on the front left 'fender'?)

Re: Jagdtiger mystery #60127 (Version B) contd.

My personal opinion is that it was customized that way and put back in the box. I could take a 60127 and make it look almost identical, stick it back in the box and make it look like it came that way. The added numbers could be regular decals available with hundreds of 1:72 plastic kits or decals by companies like Aleran and others.

The sticker does not look like anything Dragon has ever used and just doesn't look right to me. As with the decals, any sticker saying something similar could be used. If Dragon did it or a modeler did it, either way it's not a very difficult weathering technique to master.

I just don't buy it, but that's my personal opinion and nothing more. I may play around with the same tank, find a sticker like this one and photograph it to show just how easy it is to do this. The problem is that since this effect can so easily be achieved, how would you ever say it was an original without Dragon saying it was. If Dragon comes out and states it was, then it would be truely one of a kind.

Whether it's the real deal or not, either way it looks good.

Re: Jagdtiger mystery #60127 (Version B) contd.

After having had a close look at the photos & the actual 60127 it seems to be that it is the original 60127 which has been painted over as you can still trace the exact camouflage lines.

The german word for Version is "Ausführung" so i wonder if the blue sticker was implying the model is an Sd. Kfz. 186 Aus B rather than a Dragon Armor version B.

Cheers

Matches the Trident - top row, # 5 from the left.

I'll take some pictures with detail that is more crisp and with a better depth of field. (the first batch were in a rush and I was testing out a new camera - hence the lack of focus ).

Somehow I missed this before. Very cool wmosner. Do you have anything like that for SS panzer divisions?
