Re: F4U-1A Corsair "White 15" & P-47D "Dallas Blonde"

Got word today that the new Dragon Corsair is on the way. YIIIPPPPEEEE! My first Dragon Corsair and it's a three tone to boot. Man it doesn't get any better than this! My wife is going to be totally p _ _ _ ed off when that ole credit card bill shows up, but who cares - life is too short to worry about money. Besides, they make more every day.

Re: F4U-1A Corsair "White 15" & P-47D "Dallas Blonde"

Both the "White 15" and "Dallas Blonde" are up on the Flying Mule site. While the P-47 looks OK, the Corsair looks (expletive deleted) tasty. I already have a VF-17 F4U, but Ike may soon have company...

That said, why hasn't anyone done Tommy Blackburn's "Big Hog" in 1/72 yet?

Post Re: F4U-1A Corsair "White 15" & P-47D "Dallas Blonde"

Two new warbirds up at Dragon Models USA, and I’m pretty excited! I can’t wait to pick up the Corsair. Not being in the game when the “Black Sheep” or “Jolly Rogers” was offered, I’m thrilled I have another chance to pick up a Corsair that’s not just all-over dark sea blue. I bought the Bunker Hill Corsair and told myself the next F4U I buy will have to be in three color camo. For someone who missed out on the Cyber Rob-me exclusives, the new Corsair is a dream come true! Three color scheme, taped front, jolly roger nose art…All firsts for a regular release, and a great looking model IMHO!

The T-bolt is a Razorback with a similar OD scheme to the just-released Gabreski bird, but with sexy nose art. (Though with no kills to up the planes sex factor even higher…Oh well.) What do you all think? Is this the first Checkertail by the big D?

If you're looking for a unique F4U-4 try the Corgi Korean War "Forgotten Heros" issue. Great nose art, especially for a Marine aircraft. In 1947, due to a hurricane in the south, the Navy sent many of its squadrons north to get away from the storm. They landed at the yet to open Scranton/Wilkes-Barre airport and I, being an airplane nut, was soon at the airport and actually sitting in some of the planes. The pilots were easy going with us, mostly 13 year olds, and then the state troopers showed up and kicked us off the grounds. My point, which I've been slow to make, is that the Marine Corsairs, which were also evacuated, were done in that high-gloss dark blue. Corgi definitely has this one right.I love mine, but then I'm a Korean War vet.

Re: F4U-1A Corsair "White 15" & P-47D "Dallas Blonde"

I have to agree with you all, Dragon's new Corsair looks nice. They certainly are coming in strong in Naval Aviation. And I second Stalag's recommendation of Corgi's Death Rattler's Corsair. Mine's a little beauty, even with the Canopy frames of a -1, something that's barely visible on display. Always had a thing for the Death Rattlers, and I'd be happy to see a Corgi -1D, even though its just a plain Glossy Blue Livery.

Not too sure on the Jug, I'm happy with my current lineup of them. Still, that Corsair looks tempting. I've done my share of purchases though, and am almost...satiated for the season.

As for Big Hog...I'd like to see her Big...but that'd more properly belong in another thread.

Re: F4U-1A Corsair "White 15" & P-47D "Dallas Blonde"

Hot diggity -- I just found a Dallas Blonde under my tree! Well, Dragon's P-47, anyway ... the next best thing. Man, that's one big fighter --she dwarfs my Dragon Bf109s. One muscular piece of American airpower, and a great piece of diecast! The detail on the radial engine, in particular, is fantastic, IMHO.

Nrrrm! Whoosh! Rat-tat-tat!
--sounds of a happy diecast collector
