Dragon and the F-22A

With alot of speculation about the "only player left standing" being HM I still cant understand why someone wont take on the F-22!!!!!!!!!!! The thing is a goldmine. Gaincorps raptors were a joke. There are now Five bases with six tailcodes in the US and no one has attempted to do any raptors that are worth keeping. We are talking about the most amazing, most technological fighter ever produced. This isnt just some variant or test bird. The F-22 IS AIR DOMINANCE!!!!!!!!!!! The raptor is WAAAAAAY overdue for a diecast model. Now I know its a problem with the metalic skin and with the mold' however, Revell of Germany has just come out with a new 1/72 scale F-22 that is amazing!! So someone (hopefully dragon) will take revells mold and do some reasearch and give us the sleeping giant!!! With dragons record of not listening to the consumer this probly wont happen but seriously, The most important fighter of our day has yet to be represented acurately. How dissapointing to see so much demand go unnoticed...

Yup, any new diecast F-22 will be based on the new Revell kit. (In 72nd at least). Kinda wonder why Revell's diecast division hasn't said/done anything---they'd have a huge head-start over the other companies.

With all due respect, bandit95, I disagree that “Gaincorp’s raptors [are] a joke.” Not that I’m an expert, mind you. But my Gaincorp F-22 is quite attractive if not downright superb.

Rivet counters can (and will) disparage supposed or real inaccuracies on this model (the canopy is wrong, the nose is repulsive, blah-blah-blah). But many more discerning collectors agree that Gaincorp’s Raptor is satisfyingly true to life. It’s not perfect, but then no diecast model is.

Gaincorp’s 1/72 diecast model of the F-22 is laudable, not only for its artisty, but also for being the first (and only, so far) of its kind.

Never underestimate the power of the Schwartz!

Give it time. The F-22 is at the beginning of it's operational career. It will be around for a long time to come.

True enough Rush, gotta have some squadron service and marking under its belt first.

Re: Dragon and the F-22A

The most important fighter of our day...

DEFINITELY debatable. Not that the F-22 doesn't have the potential to do great things, just all it has done so far is dominate on paper. It has a long way to go before it earns that title, IMO.

From the HUD of a lowly F/A-18 Super Hornet

As for a die cast, I am with you that a good one is needed. I'd definitely buy it, as I need one for my Air Force display. Just curious as to why Dragon. The way things are going, it would likely be a year+ after announcement that we'd get anything! If I had to guess, I would predict Witty to be the next to take on the F-22. If they're anything like their F-15's, they could be very nice.

Revell's been out of the diecast biz for a while now, no?

Anyways, my money's on Witty for doing the F-22 before anyone else (besides Gaincorp that is -- I did pic up the GC Edwards yesterday, so we'll see how that looks.......)

Yeah, other than changing tail codes and c/n's there's not a lot of variety to the markings right now...
