| Re: Dragon and the F-22A Commenting on various posts: I would like someone, anyone, to make a 1/72 F-22. I would buy it. We've beat the subject of how good the Raptor is into the ground. I still want a model. The Raptors I have seen are not glossy, and I've seen FF and TY tailcodes. I would prefer HM to make one, as they are my manufacturer of choice right now. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Dragon and the F-22A Raptors have been neglected thus far that for sure and i think just about everyone would buy one if someone would make them. Again, despite what you may have seen or what you see in pictures, RAPTORS DO HAVE A METALLIC SKIN!!! Although in different lighting and especially when its clouds you cannot see it. | |||||||||||||

It shouldn't be a problem, JP....how else do you think they painted the "chromalusion" special paintjob on Jeff Gordon's # 24 diecasts, eh?

| Re: Dragon and the F-22A The F-22's paint scheme has been replicated by scale modelers, and it's not *that* hard. Basically, you paint the plane two shades of silver, then use "grey-tinted clear" overcoats to get "the look". Timing is key though, it depends on the new coat and old coat mixing with each other---though in a factory, once you get the timing/mixing right Dragon's painting people could surely consistently pop them out quickly. Link: F-22A Raptor Paint by Mark S. Looks perfect, he posted more pics at ARC and they look even better than the ones in his article. They are grey from one angle, and silver from another. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Dragon and the F-22A True Joey....But aren't these painted by a machine at the factory or are they individually painted with a airbrush by a worker in the factory ? Now that link David posted of that F-22 is a great looking Raptor...Very nice. JP | |||||||||||||

| Re: Dragon and the F-22A
Even my AFROTC buddies who work with the ‘Raptor’ say the ‘Dogfights of the future’ show was nothing more than a USAF promo video. The F-22 is an amazingly capable bird but in this day of low intensity warfare I would much rather have UCAV’s, A-10C’s & ABL’s.

| Re: Dragon and the F-22A
I was reading an article about the retirement of the F-14 tomcat from Air and Space. There was a quote from a Tomcat pilot that can be applied to the F-35. Here's the excerpt (just substitute F-35 in place of Super Hornet), "I'm flying the Super Hornet now, and it's a very capable jet. The thing is new, and it's as dependable as a Japanese car. Everything works, all the time. But I'm sorry- it just ain't sexy. The Tomcat is sexy. I remember forming up after a fight or something, looking over, thinking, 'Damn, that's a great-looking jet.' The Tomcat is like your 20-year-old cherry Corvette, and the Hornet is like a nice new Accord."
