F-4U-1A Corsair "White 15" VF-17 with Carrier Deck

How new is this set not the plane but the set, F-4U-1A Corsair "White 15" VF-17 with Carrier Deck.

Does anyone have it, is it made out of the same stuff as their other bases. It looks as if it could be a better option than Corgis Carrier base especially if they fit together well.

Re: F-4U-1A Corsair "White 15" VF-17 with Carrier Deck

According to Dragon's website it's scheduled to be released in June. I was about to be extremely pissed, because at first glance I thought this was the CyberHobby release, with a new base. Luckily, it's a different number: "15" versus the CH "17" release.

I love the look of that diorama. Any idea what year that depicts and whose plane?

Cunningham's Corsair is of my favorites,it's a really pretty plane. The landing gear took an hour of surgery to attach but the 3 tone scheme is great. If you don't have this one get it. Now with a carrier deck, sad to see another rehash from Draggin' though.

Nice idea but a slight problem. VF-17 operated from a land base. They never operated the Corsair off a carrier. They were re-equipped in 1944 with Hellcats and only then served on board a carrier.

I really like the tri-color on that Jolly Roger F4U Corsair.

No prob - you could use the carrier deck with a different model then if it is accurate.

That's correct..Deployed from Solomons Oct '43 - March '44 (1st tour)
USS Hornet (CV-12) Feb - June '45 (2nd tour)
