Question I need some help with German fighter schemes.

I have no books on the subject of German aircraft, and the internet has turned up a whole lot of nothing for the specific information I seek. So, I figured I’d bring my question here, where I’m sure someone can make quick work of it.

What German fighters (currently made in the DML Warbirds line) saw action against the Western Allies? With all my Thunderbolts and Mustangs, I want to get some adversaries, but want to make sure they have appropriate schemes. Knowing home airfields doesn’t help and trying to sort out all the JGs makes my head spin. Is there an easy way to tell in which theater which plane flew? I’m interested in planes that intercepted American bombers rather than bombed Russians. (For now, I’ve got limits, and my spending doesn’t extend to the Ostfront.)

While I’m at it, what exactly is the big yellow patch beneath the engine on some German planes? Do I stay away from those all together? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Re: I need some help with German fighter schemes.

I have a few others I can dig up but this is a good site for all information related to the German Order of Battle including fighter squadrons. I'll try an dig up some other sites later.

During 1943. JG 1/2/11/26 was involved mainly

Then from 1944, more and more JGs were brought from other fronts to stem the tide from allied bombing.

Re: I need some help with German fighter schemes.

Here is a link to a list of Viermot killers (4 engined bombers) Viermot-Killers

It appears Dragon makes several high scoring bomber killer liveries.

Walter Dahl 30+ Bomber Kills DRW50269
Heinz Bar 21 Bomber Kills DRW50156 or Cyber Hobby version 50157
Willi Unger 21 Bomber Kills DRW50256
Alfred Grislawski 18 Bomber Kills DRW50275 or Cyber Hobby version 50113

--Note on Dahl's plane, Dragon says this is an Eastern Front livery, however it has Defense of the Reich bands and Dahl was on Defense of the Reich duties from September 1943 through 1944. So I think they got the description wrong.
