Dragon needs to put it all together

Greetings,

maybe this has been said before but............

Dragon recently released several models with (3) figures and some with a fire unit and carrier deck..There have been other planes released in the past with figures. How about a set of the figures alone without the aircraft....maybe a navy set and an airforce set. Most people buy diecast aircraft because they lack the time, patietence and skill for plastic models (I am surely in that group). So the same is true of the figures and other accessories.

I would buy multiple sets of naval figures and other accessories for 1/72 naval a/c. I know that the extra weapons sets are scarce for Dragon anymore. Maybe some dollies with bombs and missles etc and tractor/ tugs etc.....Maybe some seated and standing pilots as well.

Dragon has 75% of this scattered about - lets get in the same box for a decent price.

Thoughts ?

Ed

Re: Dragon needs to put it all together

I'm with you on that all the way. But as you know, Dragon doesn't want to operate the way we would like them to do. They do the things they do because it's good
for their bottom line and that's pretty much the way it goes. Those of us who've collected their 1/6th figure sets have always been asking for "carded sets" with other
accessories, equipment, gear and uniforms to be sold as separate items so we could do kitbash of different theme subject matters.

Having said that, it is very unlikely that Dragon will change things around to accomodate us the consumers of their products, because they're just don't see any profit
or stand to gain anything from it.

My .02 sense.

Re: Dragon needs to put it all together

Years ago you could buy extra weapons sets which also had a few pilot figures,

The carrier deck is great. I was thinking that you could scan the the deck and photoshop some extra decking.

Hopefully they release some more of these,

As mentioned by flyxwire, they have their own priorities and the idea would have to be promoted by the retailers or a write in campaign might work.

I remember when Candoo released the 1:35 scale tank crew but Dragon didn't have any 1:35 tanks until about 2 years later.

Herpa is the only company that provides the extras like hangars, ground crew and equipment and tarmac.

Re: Dragon needs to put it all together

As mentioned in another thread (CW) ...The Dragon carrier deck recently released started off strong (big move in right direction) but its two piece design warps over time under weight the of the aircraft.

Century Wings has mentioned 1/144 carrier dioramams perhaps they will do 1/72 as well and maybe get in some accessories sets as well.

Market, I know, is usually not determined by us.

Diecast Police collectors recently started getting cars with multiple wheel sets and lightbars, extra antenna's cages push bumpers (and soon 1/43 K9 dogs) but that company has been plagued with QC issues and hopefully will turn it around.

Maybe someone (a distributor) could commission Dragon to do some new accessory sets etc....Happens all the time in PD/FD Diecast...runs of from 100 to 10,000 for one outlet or Dept to sell.

Just thinking out loud,

Ed
